The Sony a6400 is a near-universally capable midrange camera that offers some of the best autofocus performance we've ever seen, backed up by solid image and video quality in most situations.
Pros:
- Family and social photography, fast action and sports, world travelers and anyone looking for the best autofocus bang-for-your-buck.
Cons:
- Those photographers seeking a more engaging or more fun shooting experience, those with larger hands and shooters that need consistently pleasing auto white balance in their JPEG shooting.

Sony stuffed in loads of features that give the a6400 a good value and the quality of its image makes it a good camera. Selfie mode with the monitor is a nice touch, but having it always obstructed by the EVF and any hot/cold shoe accessory is a bummer.

The compact size of the Sony Alpha A6400 makes it a great choice for travel compared to a larger full-frame camera. Image quality is impressive, with the camera delivering great image quality, with improved noise performance.
Pros:
- Compact size, Excellent Image Quality, Improved noise performance, Unlimited video recording, 11fps continuous shooting, Wi-Fi, NFC and Bluetooth, MyMenu
Cons:
- 16:9 aspect ratio screen reduces size of 4:3 images, Menu system is overly long, No in-camera raw editing, Handling could be improved

The Sony a6400 may have a few flaws, but given its $900 price point, excellent image and video quality, super responsive autofocus (and EyeAF), and E-mount compatibility, we are very impressed.

Sony’s latest APS-C mirrorless features some remarkable technology, but is let down by its out-dated body design.
Pros:
- Astonishingly capable subject-tracking autofocus, Excellent image quality in almost any shooting situation, High level of control customisation available, Relatively compact size and decent build quality

- Out-dated body design is much less pleasant to use than its competitors, Control setup is poorly-configured out of the box, 16:9 LCD screen gives small display area for 3:2 stills, Minimal touchscreen functionality, No in-body image stabilisation

If you’re after a camera that will cope with shooting a variety of subjects, Sony’s A6400 is an obvious choice, if you can learn to live with its less-than-perfect handling.

- Fantastic AF tracking, Small size is great for travelling, Good range of accessories and lenses

- Fiddly operation, Limited battery life, Viewfinder and screen using old technology
