Sony Alpha A6300

This camera is considered one of Sony’s mid-range models—with the Sony A6000 as its lower counterpart, and the Sony A7 II as it’s higher level counterpart. The specs on this camera aim to impress even the fussiest of photographers. It’s a great looking camera too and is easy to handle & operate. Let’s look at some of the other features.

The battery on this camera is also a feature worth mentioning due to its staying power during your shoots. Your camera battery should be able to last approximately 400 photos in, before the battery needs recharging.

The Sony Alpha A6300 has a 24MP sensor with a shooting rate of 11 frames per second. There’s a built-in flash which has an incredible sync speed of 1/160 seconds. The AF system on the camera is hybrid, and boasts an impressive 425 PDAF points. Among other features, one more is worth mentioning; the OLED 2.36M-dot with a 120fps refresh option which will lend a hand to the quality of your photographs.

In addition to these photography features, the Sony Alpha A6300 also has some convenient video recording abilities. 4K is the hero here, with resolution settings of 3840 x 2160 (30p) and 1920 x 1080 (120p/60p). Although the camera is primarily designed for regular photography, you’ll enjoy the quality of these videos as well.

Sony A6300

The Sony A6300 serves as the follow-up to one of the most popular cameras in recent years, the A6000. Given the predecessor's top marks, it's a tough act to follow. Sony's pulled it off, though, packing in so many new features and performance improvements.

Excellent image quality; Improved high-ISO performance; Better JPEG quality; Fast autofocus; Very good subject tracking with real-time live view feature; All-magnesium body construction; 4K video

Slow buffer clearing (no UHS-II support); No touchscreen, Clunky menus; Wi-Fi can be a bit frustrating to use

Sony Alpha A6300 Full Review

The Sony Alpha A6300 updates the A6000 , which will remain on the market, and adds a number of improvements, including a new 24.2 megapixel sensor for improved low light performance, 4K video and faster readout speed to enable improved shooting performance.

11fps continuous shooting with AF; Excellent image quality possible; Excellent video quality and options; Rapid focus and wide focus area; Great noise performance; Weather-sealed body (when used with FE lenses; High-resolution electronic viewfinder; USB charging; plus USB power; Wi-Fi and NFC...

Increased price over the previous model (although quite easily justified; Use of FE (Full-frame) lenses will noticeably increase the size of the system; Touch-screen would be nice

Sony A6300

The Sony A6300 replaces the two year old A6000 as Sony's premium APS-C Alpha offering. The A6300 retains a similar outward appearance to its predecessor, although the new camera does feature full weather sealing against dust and moisture ingress.

Sony A6300 review

It's hard to find fault with this camera. Yes, it's expensive (£1,000 body only, or £1,100 with a 16-50mm kit zoom lens), but not crazily so. I'd imagine that there'll be better deals available for the A6300 if you're willing to wait a few months.

Fast; accurate autofocus; Great image quality; even in low light; Invaluable OLED viewfinder; Compact; lightweight and sturdy build

Pretty pricey

Great camera shame Very lowered the price after I purchased it!

I didn't use my DSLR much so I went for a smaller mirrorless camera instead. It does have a cropped sensor but takes great pictures and event better videos. The strap attachment makes jangling noises that come into the video

great travel camera

I've had this camera for a little while now and it is very similar to the Sony A6000 that I had previously. It takes a little while to get to understand the menu system but it is very well organised and quite quickly you are able to move around the menus like a pro and get just the effect you are...

Surpasses all expectations

I purchased camera this because I could not afford to upgrade my A7R to the A7R II and wanted 4K Video capture. As well, I liked the idea of having an even more compact camera than the A7R and the A6300 with it's smaller sensor providing a 1.5x magnification of my existing FE lenses, was actually...

Fantastic product

I took advantage of thw sony cashback offer through John Lewis making this a lot of camera for the money. As a beginner I found the camera to use. The amount of control available allowed me to capture some fantastic low light images of waterfront city-scapes.
