Sony Alpha A6300

This camera is considered one of Sony’s mid-range models—with the Sony A6000 as its lower counterpart, and the Sony A7 II as it’s higher level counterpart. The specs on this camera aim to impress even the fussiest of photographers. It’s a great looking camera too and is easy to handle & operate. Let’s look at some of the other features.

The battery on this camera is also a feature worth mentioning due to its staying power during your shoots. Your camera battery should be able to last approximately 400 photos in, before the battery needs recharging.

The Sony Alpha A6300 has a 24MP sensor with a shooting rate of 11 frames per second. There’s a built-in flash which has an incredible sync speed of 1/160 seconds. The AF system on the camera is hybrid, and boasts an impressive 425 PDAF points. Among other features, one more is worth mentioning; the OLED 2.36M-dot with a 120fps refresh option which will lend a hand to the quality of your photographs.

In addition to these photography features, the Sony Alpha A6300 also has some convenient video recording abilities. 4K is the hero here, with resolution settings of 3840 x 2160 (30p) and 1920 x 1080 (120p/60p). Although the camera is primarily designed for regular photography, you’ll enjoy the quality of these videos as well.

Along with the new G Master lenses , we got the chance to see the Sony a6300 at the recent European Press Event in Amsterdam. Unfortunately it was only a pre-production model so we couldn't take any pictures with it.

Sony's new flagship consumer mirrorless camera, the a6300, brings a whole new level of features and performance to the consumer market. It sets new standards, sporting an APS-C sensor with the ability to focus as fast as 0.05 seconds and features 425 phase detection AF points; the most for a...

Program and iAuto produce overall excellent quality images; Dedicated Video Capture Button is always ready to record; Outstanding video control provides many professional settings; Pop-up flash is always available; EVF with high refresh rate provides smooth; easy follow view for shooting and...

Lack of optical image stabilization built into body (as we are seeing on many of the new Sony models; Camera boosts ISO to keep images sharp; Battery Life is average for an ILC; way below a DSLR; USB power adapter leaves you charging your batteries in the camera

Sony a6300 review

The a6300 is Sony's latest and greatest compact system camera (CSC), and an update to the Sony a6000 . Back in 2014 I wrote that the a6000 "hits a home run for quality, performance, features and price", so the a6300 has big boots to fill.

Sony had the right idea with its A6000 : It made a powerful mirrorless camera and sold it at a relatively affordable starting price. And people loved it, with Sony claiming it's been the world's best-selling mirrorless camera since it came out two years ago.

Sony A6300

The Sony A6300 serves as the follow-up to one of the most popular cameras in recent years, the A6000. Given the predecessor's top marks, it's a tough act to follow. Sony's pulled it off, though, packing in so many new features and performance improvements.

Excellent image quality; Improved high-ISO performance; Better JPEG quality; Fast autofocus; Very good subject tracking with real-time live view feature; All-magnesium body construction; 4K video

Slow buffer clearing (no UHS-II support); No touchscreen, Clunky menus; Wi-Fi can be a bit frustrating to use
