I class myself as an enthusiastic amateur photographer. I have no 'aftermarket lenses' for my a99ii and a99, it is all Sony/Zeiss/Minolta. I've dreamt of owning one of these, but knew in my heart of hearts it was way out of my league.

I've had this lens for years and its excellent period. Worth every penny! Doesn't get any better than this lens.
I just got this great lens with the 1.4x Sony converter attached to my Sony A77ii. The lens is a lightwieght champ comparing it to Sony 70-400mm f4-5.6 G ii Lens Which i have. Focusing is really fast with the 1.4x! Without the 1.4x is much faster. The lens is sharp from f4!

It's big, but then it is a 500mm lens, so no surprise. Really needs to be tripod mounted. Identical button layout to the Sony 300mm so no new learning curve. Used for wildlife with tests on red squirrels and kingfishers. Even with a 1.4 converter, the results are amazing!
