In conclusion, SOCOM: 4 (Special Forces) is without a doubt the next true sequel to Zipper's beloved franchise. Although I may be a SOCOM fan at heart, this definitely is one of the very few multiplayer games on the PS3 that has the potential to last a very long time competitively.

SOCOM fans will love Special Forces/4. The controls are tight, especially for issuing orders to your team, the stealth missions are a superb experience and the weapon levelling is a nice extra touch to the game.
There is fun to be had here, but by being unable to connect past distinguishing features and moderns sensibilites, SOCOM: Special Forces is unable to do enough to stand out of the crowd.
It doesn't redefine the genre, nor the longstanding series that birthed it yet SOCOM 4: Special Forces offers a solid experience that will keep tactical shooter fans pleased, yet searching for something just a little more. By Stephen Heller
I was a proper fan of SOCOM 1 and 2 back in the day. I was blown away with technology available where i could tell my squad members where to go and for the most part, it worked pretty damn well. And no amount of mocking from my partner at the time would stop me.
