[REVIEW-SIGMA 150MM APO MACRO DG HSM]
This f2.8 lens is one of a number of Sigma macro lenses and sits between the 105mm and 180mm units. It is image stabilised and focuses internally so the lens barrel does not extend. It has full frame coverage and on an APS sensor camera has a focal length equivalent of 225mm.

There aren't many third-party manufacturer products which truly stand out from the crowd. However, Sigma's 150mm f/2.8 EX DG HSM APO macro lens was clearly one of them. Sigma has just released its successor featuring Sigma's OS (Optical Image Stabilizer).
Surprisingly Good Macro Lens
My preliminary usage has been to photograph flowers and insects after a couple of test shots. Sharpness compares favorably with my Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM Lens. I would not have purchased such a lens from Sigma without the glowing reviews here.

Nice lens, quite cheap now
Great lens, a little heavy, focuses well with my 5DmkII. VERY shallow depth of field. Sometimes is difficult to have the theme complete in focus withoutd using flash and f/ 16. Its not the macro lens for all day, thats the 50mm, but can be valuable for live insects and animals, snakes for example.
Top notch !
If you want more working distance to photograph insects buy this lens. Photo included.
Sigma 150mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM APO Macro Lens
Sigma's 150mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM APO Macro lens is a second-generation product, adding optical stabilisation to an already popular (and high-performing) lens. The new lens is optically more complex than its predecessor and, thanks to the added Optical Stabilisation (OS) system, just over 250 grams...

Sigma needs to get it's act together
This is the second lens i have bought, the first one made a squeaking noise, and could not focus there seems to be a problem with the tripod mount bracket if you tighten it just a little bit more it will not focus properly. and this is happening to this one!!- Durable
- Great Features
- Great Picture Quality
- Simple Controls
- Bulky
