After one week with the Sigma 150-500mm OS, even with the smaller aperture range of f5 to 6.3, this lens exceeds my expectations. In fact, it gave me such good results that I put my 100-400mm IS L Canon up for sale.

Good reach; quiet focus; manual override; works well with extenders

Can focus hunt; OS makes some noise; Canon 40D has reported problems with lens

Sigma APO 150-500mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM Lens – Review

When you take a look at a decent telephoto zoom lens reaching 500mm in focal length you expect it to be weighty, and Sigma's APO 150-500mm lens is no exception. This lens is designed to work on full-frame cameras and it's easy to see why once it's mounted, as it really needs a weighty camera body to...

Covering 150-500mm is a great zoom range, especially when you factor in a digital crop like 1.6x found on our test camera, the Canon EOS 50D, as this takes the focal length range up to 240-800mm!

Good Lens for the Price

This lens is pretty sharp out to about 400mm. At 500 its acceptable only. If you are trying to shoot wildlife and birds it works well but it certainly cannot compete with the better Nikon long lenses but then again it is only about $900.00 and the good Nikons can run 4 to 5 grand.

my wife uses this lens on her canon 1100d camera.after reading reviews about the weight i was a bit hesitant to purchase the lens, but had no need to worry, carries it around with her attached to the camera for most of the day(she is only 5feet tall and 8.5 stone).takes some getting used to but we

Value for Money

There are numerous reviews of this lens in the web, but here's my experience with this Sigma lens. Pros: 1. Range (150 - 500) there's nothing in the Nikon lens line up currently that can beat this. Nikon's offering 200 - 400 f4 is too costly for most of the enthusiasts. 2. The OS is very effective.
