The VP-88 is a great mic for 5.1! I mix about 60 sporting events a year for television and use 3 VP-88s to create my 5.1 soundfield. I usually use the mics in the M/S config and let the audio console decode it to stereo. The stereo image is quite good and translates well into mono. Happy mixing!

Everything has been said about OVERALL OPINION I work exclusively live and I use the microphone Atmosphere Battery for six years, for all types of music. I use a compressor as needed. This is the most natural I've found to do this micro couple of Schoeps excluded, of course.
