I have yet to compare it with similar mic's (meaning DSLR specific mic's as this is still the only one in it's class that has the ability to record) but the build, the functionality the display are all perfect...

This Deadcat works well. And the price isn't too high either, which is nice. And it is good they make a specific one to fit the Shure VP83(F). But, it sure is difficult to get it over the foam wind-screen. It is just too tight and the foam is so grippy. The fur sheds just a little bit.
