Great for tracking, not the best sound
I own these along with AKG K240 Studios. I first bought the K240's over these for the comfort along with the sound quality. While these sound very good they just don't match the clarity and smoothness of the semi open back AKG's. These are fully closed back so give you a sorta pressured feeling.

Pros:
- Well built
- Decent isolation
- Clean, articulate sound that hits a sonic sweet spot
- Ear cups pivot and fold into a portable package
- Come with detachable 9.5-foot coiled cable and travel pouch
- Great value
Cons:
- Heaviest of the bunch
- Exposed driver cables made me a little nervous
- Not really comfortable for more than short, hour-long listening sessions
- Noise isolation not as good as the Sennheiser or Destiny

These headphones are decent. Nothing great. Widely available and retails for around $100 I liked them from a sound standpoint, however from a portability/durability standpoint, I couldn't justify keeping them. I generally listen to most of my music either on the commute to work or in the office.

"Good Professional Budget Headphones"
Shure have been producing high class audio equipment for quite sometime. Readers may have heard of their flagship SM series, such as the SM57 or SM58 microphones, and due to this, it was no surprise when they started creating studio headphones.
Pros:
- Crisp clear Audio
- Ideal for home studio mixing
- easy on the eye
Cons:
- Un-comfortable after 1 hour and exposed wires

Shure SRH440 review
Shure is a firm known for professional-quality microphones and studio headsets, so we started out with high expectations of this entry. With an RRP a little above our £100 cut-off, the SRH440 phones are widely available at a price point closer to £80, so they sneak in under the wire.
Pros:
- Balanced output with strong bass
- industrial good looks
- suitable for studio work

- Not very portable

Not bad for the money. but buy the 240's
if you are considering buying the shure 440's, that's fine, but I recommended you buy the shure 240's save yourself $50 and your ears for little difference in sound quality, and a more retro design.
Pros:
- Great balance (not too little or too much bass) and superb sound quality for the money
- The build quality is quite sturdy
- A nice clean retro design
- A "plastic brushed finish" so no finger prints
- ear cups and head band are made with nice pleather
Cons:
- The ear cups can get very uncomfortable with even mildly long amounts of time
- (your ears will get soar, A excessively long curly wire comes in the box which gets heavy, and also gets tangled, two wires on the sides can easily get chewed or clipped

Shure?SRH440
Recently purchase a pair of SRH440 as a gift. Had the budget set at around $100 USD give or take depending on quality and what is available. What I needed were a set of closed cans that can be driven easily by ipod/iphone.

"SHURE DELIVERS THE GOODS"
Them bottom line is the sound. And they sure are the BEST I've heard. I can see myself using these phones for a long time. The highs, mids and lows are very even. I actually hear things on these phones that I didn't hear before.

Shure's SRH range of professional headphones claims to be the first choice for "music obsessives." Well, as far as the SRH440s are concerned, we would position them slightly further down their pecking order.
