Fantastic performers overall, but these cans stay near the computer.
One shall always fall short of words to describe how stunning are the new HD 598 headphones. From the build quality to the audio clarity, everything seems perfect. They're so comfortable to wear that no matter how much time passes by, there's still time.
We typically scoff and prepare for the worst whenever we see the word "audiophile" in the marketing for any headphone that we see cross our desks, because we've been exposed to some of the crazy things that people will buy simply because it's branded as such.
For the times when you want to hear the space and depth of recordings and films, but must wear headphones , the Sennheiser HD 598 creates a sonic field that seems lifelike. At $249.95, these are headphones for the home theater or hi-fi stereo fanatic who can't always listen through a surround sound...
Superior audio experience; Excellent balance of the entire frequency range with a strong sense of space; Very comfortable

For the times when you want to hear the space and depth of recordings and films, but must wear headphones, the Sennheiser HD 598 creates a sonic field that seems lifelike. At $249.95, these are headphones for the home theater or hi-fi stereo fanatic who can't always listen through a surround sound system or top-notch speakers. The best part is the excellent spatial depth the HD 598 provides is 100-percent acoustic design, sans digital effects or attempts to mimic surround sound. The HD 598 is headphone home audio at its best, easily earning our Editors' Choice award. DesignThe circumaural (over-the-ear) headphones are intended for home use, which will make the brown-and-cream color scheme less of an issue if you find it unappealing. We like the retro styling, complete with velour earpads, but it's not for everyone. The included removable audio cable has two characteristics uncommon to most headphones available today: it terminates in a 1/4-inch connection (though a 3.5mm adapter i...
The superb-sounding Sennheiser HD 598 offers some of the best sense of space we've heard from $250 headphones.

The motley crew that lives in my headphone drawer was getting long in the tooth when I decided to add a widely acknowledged classic to the collection. The new acquisition was the Sennheiser HD 600, now more than 20 years and umpteen generations old, and he's become my go-to guy when I want to spend...
Musically coherent sound; Comfortable velour earpads; Moving parts don't creak
Not especially rugged; Limited low bass; No carry case
I have several pairs of Sennheiser headphones that I use in the studio. The HD 360 PRO is the perfect match for my portable recording rig. These headphones provide uncolored sound- which is essential for recording, playback, and mastering.

I very much recommend this specific pair of headphones. I did not know you could get this level of quality for $150. - $200. Sennheiser makes really good headphones , and these are my favorite.
The sound is clear, warm, and rich; I'm an old rock and roll guy, but the only really good quality (.flac) audio files I had on hand were a set of cello pieces; Mein Gott! I think I might have to change my favorite musical instrument.
Same old issue with the 1/8th inch headphone jack; All of my computer and stereo equipment has 3.5 mm jacks; I will eventually buy a 1.5 m cable with 3.5 in jacks on each end, and light weight to boot
I recently reviewed the Sennheiser HD595 and, with sufficent (4-5 days) burn in, I quite liked it. I was using it quite frequently in the office whenever closed headphones were not convenient (eg., when I needed to be able to hear my phone ringing).
Wide soundstage; open/airy; forward presentation; single-end detachable cord; comfort
Construction; styling/color may be gaudy for some; little isolation (if you need it
