I've included some Reds here because while they are NAS drives, they can also be used for single drive applications. The BarraCuda pricing is good, but that extra 0.4 to 1.0 cent per GB adds up when you have 10,000 of them, pushing its price over the $500 point, which may be getting steep for some...
This is an absolutely fantastic hard drive. But 10TB is massive overkill for the average consumer. And data redundancy in the form of a $1,000 mirrored RAID pair is very pricey. Warnings aside. To heck with it-if the powers that be let me keep this drive, I'd replace my 4TB with it in a heartbeat.
This drive has a transfer rate just under half of some very fast SSD drives I have...for a mechanical drive, it's freakin' fast!
Installed and formatted with no problems; Formats at 9.09TB...will hold massive amounts of data...even a ton of Blu-ray movies; Used CrystalDiskMark to benchmark and got very good transfer rates: Sequential Read: 245.6MB/s Sequential Write: 232.6MB/s I also did a real time data transfer from my...
So far; I have no complaints at all about this drive

Lower endurance rating than enterprise drive; Higher per gigabyte ratio than smaller capacity drive; Lower warranty length (Skyhawk only
Definitely faster than my old drives. A bit early to say for sure but haven't missed a beat so far.
" Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated " - A Hard Disk Drive, yesterday. Today's review, the Seagate Barracuda Compute Pro 10TB hard drive, marks an exciting day in the annals of OC3D.
The first one of these was DOA but the RMA process via NCIX was easy enough amd the second is working fine. I think the drive is pretty good but also expensive with a price tag close to $500.
-big capacity; -good warranty time (5 years) and data recovery assistance (for the first 2 years I believe; -fast drive
-little louder than I thought it would be and slow to spin up fully at boot

Seagate's standard BarraCuda desktop hard drive range ends at 4TB, the BarraCuda Pro range however, goes way past this to the new flagship of the lineup, the leviathan 12TB drive. Although there are even bigger drives to be had in the enterprise segment, in the desktop space, the 12TB BarraCuda Pro...
