Bought 2x Year 2013. One broke down after exactly two years. The second broke down last week, after about 4.5 years. It was not so that they "hated" that they were going to hang out, for example. through SMART, clicking noise, chkdsk or other. Both of them only two quarters. Never more Seagate.
Ive had over 5 Seagate drives die. The proof that its a cheaply made drive is proven by the fact that they cut their 3 year guarantee down to a year. Need I say more?
This is excellent. It is just what I hope for, and it works extremely well. I have it on a very fast external connector hooked to my Mac Pro, and I use it to backup files when I want to reduce my storage.
This hdd was quick enough but the spinning must have been janky because it caused my case(s) to vibrate and make a lot of noise! I used this hard drive in multiple cases and had the same problem!
I use these in my NAS, I know they are desktop rated, but my NAS has clocked up 32500 hrs wirhout and bad blocks Seagate just make seriously good hard drives, the only brand for me
These are great replacement drives. I have replace 4 smaller drives with these and have not had any problems. You cannot go wrong with Seagate drives.
Thankfully I bought the 3TB version of this drive as a storage drive for misc stuff that's already backed up on externals. It runs like a tortoise and write speeds are just insulting. Shoulda learned to stay away from this company after my Free Agent died years ago and nearly lost me all of my data.
