Really good

Well, its a harddrive, what can i say. Plugged it in, switched on the PC, went into the manage thingy for Windows 7 and formatted it. It works like any harddrive should :) Some folks in other comments have noticed a click, its a double click on spin up and spin down, simply the heads moving on and...

Failed after 10 days

- Would highly recommend checking your Event Viewer for System errors. Filter on Event ID = 7. - Do NOT back all your important data onto this drive unless you have a mirror array or ANOTHER backup!

- Big drive; cheap under $100

- Had to use SeaTools to initialize drive (a sign it was a bad drive) - Started getting "Bad Block" errors 7 days after light use - Errors progressively got worse

TRASH

Thankfully I bought the 3TB version of this drive as a storage drive for misc stuff that's already backed up on externals. It runs like a tortoise and write speeds are just insulting. Shoulda learned to stay away from this company after my Free Agent died years ago and nearly lost me all of my data.

Space and Performance

I needed a couple drives, fast, due to a hard drive failure on my home pc. I only really needed one but the price was right. I would recommend these drives to anyone. They've never let me down. Incidently, the Seagate drive that did fail was on 24/7 for 4 years. Can't complain about that.

Great product

This is OEM packaging which is just fine as far as I'm concerned. The drives are brand new and function as expected. I've had several Western Digital externals fail so I'm giving these Seagates a try mirrored internally on Vista. So far so good. Great price for a great product.

Bought 2x Year 2013. One broke down after exactly two years. The second broke down last week, after about 4.5 years. It was not so that they "hated" that they were going to hang out, for example. through SMART, clicking noise, chkdsk or other. Both of them only two quarters. Never more Seagate.

good for normal use

just finished installing the drive ...took a long 4 hours...my benchmarking shows avg. Speed of 137 mb/sec against the quoted 210 mb/sec. enquired seagate forum and found that the drive has two version s/n- w1****** having two platter design giving 160-170 mb/sec nd s/n-w2 ****** with an avg.

Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 2TB hard disk review: extremely fast 7200 rpm hard drive

Seagate has replaced all its existing 3.5-inch hard drives with the 7200.14 series. It has 1TB platters, and we tested the 2TB model.

Not much more to say. It wasn't DOA, and it's been working fine for about a month now. HDs are basically a commodity now, not a huge difference between brands. If you care about your data, RAID your drives and make regular backups.

-Good value ($/GB; -Performance as expected

-A little loud..; like most 7200RPM drives
