Really good

Well, its a harddrive, what can i say. Plugged it in, switched on the PC, went into the manage thingy for Windows 7 and formatted it. It works like any harddrive should :) Some folks in other comments have noticed a click, its a double click on spin up and spin down, simply the heads moving on and...

Great product

This is OEM packaging which is just fine as far as I'm concerned. The drives are brand new and function as expected. I've had several Western Digital externals fail so I'm giving these Seagates a try mirrored internally on Vista. So far so good. Great price for a great product.

The price was right and it works great. I copied 1.5TB between this drive and a comparable Seagate 3TB model. I reached continous write speeds of up tp 200MBs. By the time the drive was half full, the speed was down to 150-160 continous.

None so far

Seagate's 3TB Barracuda performs well and helps consolidate storage space

Sometimes you just need to have all your stuff stored in one place. Having multiple drives and partitions can get confusing when it comes to both accessing your data and figuring out what needs to be backed up, not to mention the mess of power and data cables that comes from installing more than two...

3TB; Runs cool and quiet; Good performance

Can be tricky to install; Needs a modern motherboard if it's to be used as a boot disk

Seagate's New Barracuda 3TB (ST3000DM001) Review

Platter density has been the crutch of hard drive makers in recent history. Increasing spindle speeds can reduce random access latency, but at the expense of cost and thermals. Improvements in random access performance via increasing spindle speed pale in comparison to what is possible with solid...

Seagate Barracuda 3TB Hard Drive ST3000DM001

Back on March 2011, Seagate debuted their original Barracuda XT 3TB hard drive , model ST33000651AS, which used five platters to supply 3000 gigabytes of capacity over a SATA 6Gb/s interface.

Very good 162 MB/s read bandwidth with ATTO Benchmark; 3rd-generation SATA 6Gb/s compliant controller; Massive 3-Terabyte storage capacity on three platters; Outstanding total-package value; 64MB Cache buffer improves burst transactions; Low-power standby conserves energy; 2-Year Seagate product...

2.1TB Barrier not removed via native hardware instruction on older O/S's; Previous Barracuda XT series offered 5-year warranty

Seagate Barracuda 3TB Review; A 1TB / Platter Monster is Unleashed

With SSDs making inroads into territory previously occupied by standard hard drives, we've seen a renaissance of sorts as some manufacturers begin pushing the limits of spindle-based storage. Western Digital showed their hand early on in the game by introducing the Caviar Green 3TB .
