Seagate hard drives appear to be a better brand than WD hard drives so I bought this hard drive for quality sake and for the great 2 year warranty.
Perfect. I got two of these in RAID1 for my FreePBX. I've just get the better price between WD and Seagate, they are both awesome hard drives.
Works great in my mid 2012 MacBook Pro. Easy installation and recovery using Mac's Time Machine backup. Took just a few minutes to physically install the drive. 45 minutes later, after the Time Machine restoration, I was up and running again. Drive is working very well.
Overall it's a good drive for what it is but at this point the size is somewhat pointless. 500gb while might be nice to have i don't see why the average consumer would be buying it. I would rather have a 64/128gb ssd over a 500gb mechanical drive and the prices are still very similar.
Standard green 500gb SATA hard drive; It came well packaged and didnt have any problem with benchmarking it or formatting it; My overall results were an average read speed of 150 megabytes/ second and the write rate varied more depending on the file size Larger files I was able to get write speeds...
Not sure what the target market is for this drive; The only thing i could think of would be an average office workstation; But at the price point you would be able to get a small ssd and the average office workstation would become a more productive machine for the employee
