Works fine

Just plugged it in and it seems to be working fine. I guess I'll know when I need to restore from it.

Drive died after 2 hours of opening the box

I was just simply making a back up and seemingly during large file transfers it starts to beep and then disconnect. I would disconnect the cable and reconnect it and it seemed to be running again, UNTIL I went to backing up my files again and it would disconnect over and over and each time you would...

Very Very Disappointed

So, straight out of the packaging, plugged into the pc (USB 3.0 Port) and started to transfer files, various different files of various size, approx 20GB worth ... this particular drive is SLOW, so SLOW it would make you weep, six and a half hour's to transfer 20GB .....

First of all this thing is tiny! We've come so far with technology. It's about the size of a bifold wallet and half the thickness. It's working great on my PS4. The only thing that mildly disappoints me is it holds 1.86 (I think it was either that or 1.84) terabytes.

DON'T BUY IT

This is the second time buying Seagate and it failed me after 1 year of use. I've lost all my files. Can't recover anything bc the disk gets extremely slow and show the folders like hidden. It also makes my computer super slow. I NEVER EVER will buy Seagate again!!

very reliable external disk drive

These drives have been very reliable, work almost everywhere, and have four colors to choose from. General advice is that any new disk drive should be fully tested before you start using it for important files. There are free programs for this; unfortunately, I can't post links in this review.

New models are slightly faster than three years ago (see 2014-02-06 review): now about 33 MB/s for full disk reads (16 hours) and 29 MB/s for full disk writes; The drives seem to produce less heat than earlier models and there was no noticeable reduction in speed during continuous activity.

Slower than external disk drives that have their own power supply; Macintosh users should reformat these drives for the HFS+ file system (or Time Machine), rather than accepting the default NTFS format (PC).

Bad product

I was able to make 1 backup before the drive failed me. I eventually was able to get in touch with Seagate customer service & tried various things they recommended before they advised me to send it back for replacement.

Hardware OK, but bundled software not so hot

I am pleased with the disk itself - it's quiet, runs cool, looks as it should be robust, but the bundled software was painfully slow. I cancelled first backup 54GB of ~250GB done in 11 hours!Since used another backup product which completed 250GB backup in about 1 hour.

Lost in translation

This user earned $2.00 Club O Rewards for writing this review. Learn More The instructions that come with the hard drive are a joke. I spent nearly 45 minutes on YouTube and Google to figure out how to install. Finally got everything working ( I hope).
