Great idea, lack of content

A great idea for a longer game. The quests are fun, but quickly get repetitive.

Sea Of Thieves review – robbery on the high seas

A uniquely open-ended online adventure with some of the best co-op of any game, but at the moment there's not nearly enough content or variety to keep it interesting for long.
Pros:
  • Crewing a ship and sharing in the camaraderie works wonderfully well
  • Sea battles are a lot of fun
  • Fantastic graphics, with some of the most realistic water effects ever
Cons:
  • Very shallow, with only a very limited range of mission types and things to do
  • Extremely repetitive, with a dispiritingly distant end goal
  • Limited matchmaking and customisation options

YO HO HO-HUM

PROS: +The graphics, characters and world are charming as hell. It's a fun and colorful sandbox. Reminds me of old Rare games like Banjo Kazooie and the Conker series. +Playing co-op is the way to play Sea of Thieves. I love the adventures and random things that can play out on any single voyage.

Sea of Thieves Review – Not Our Cup of Grog

With the setting sun glistening on the open ocean, my first mate dances on the mast with jubilee as I'm topping off my fourth tankard of grog after a hard day's work of plundering and pillaging.
Pros:
  • Visually breathtaking world
  • Great ship mechanics
  • Fun with friends
Cons:
  • Repetitive quests
  • Lackluster progression system
  • Limited things to do

Que sera, sera

Slightly above average or simply inoffensive. Fans of the genre should enjoy it a bit, but a fair few will be left unfulfilled.

Sea of Thieves Review

No doubt Sea of Thieves is a tough game to review when you try and view it objectively. So much of the enjoyment to be found is the very definition of subjective because Rare's long in the works pirate multiplayer opus falls short in several key areas.

Its ok

To get the most out of the game you should have a couple of friends on with you then communication is seamless and you can get the most out of the game. It is rare enough to join up with randoms that have mics. Gameplay is fairly good you can go about quests for treasures that you can sell for cash.
