Sea of Thieves review
Sea of Thieves is one of the most frustrating games in absolutely ages. When it's good, it's uproariously fun. When it's tedious, it can suck all of the joy out of a room. Usually your playtime falls somewhere in between those two extremes. Still, if you told me tomorrow that it had been updated with new quest types, enemies and my mates were all down to don our upgraded eye patches again, I'd be back in a heartbeat. ‘Cos there's nothing else like Sea of Thieves right now. And if pirate lore has taught us anything, it's that it’s better to be infamous than forgotten about.
Pros:
- Can be brilliant fun
- Stunning cartoon visuals
- Loads of potential
Cons:
- Quests are repetitious
- Some ideas aren't fully fleshed out
- Needs more content

Sea of Thieves Review – Xbox One
Sea Of Thieves is a great multiplayer experience… if you can play it under VERY strict and VERY specific conditions. Outside of that, well- that's when things get hairy. The game sets you up with a base character that's randomly generated- you can re-roll your appearance, but the opportunity to...
Pros:
- Positives + Beautiful visuals
- + Solid gameplay
- + The act of sailing around on the ship both looks and feels great
- + When you have a group earnestly working together, the game is a great time
Cons:
- Negatives - Everything else
- Literally
- - Limited mission variety
- - Zero fun when playing on your own
- - Difficult to get a handle on everything that is and isn't possible to do

Xbox One Review - 'Sea of Thieves'
Buy Sea of Thieves Sea of Thieves had a few hiccups during its first week, but even with the rough start, more than two million players have already given it a go. It's easy to see why, given how exciting Sea of Thieves sounds when described.

Great idea, lack of content
A great idea for a longer game. The quests are fun, but quickly get repetitive.

Sea Of Thieves review – robbery on the high seas
A uniquely open-ended online adventure with some of the best co-op of any game, but at the moment there's not nearly enough content or variety to keep it interesting for long.
Pros:
- Crewing a ship and sharing in the camaraderie works wonderfully well
- Sea battles are a lot of fun
- Fantastic graphics, with some of the most realistic water effects ever
Cons:
- Very shallow, with only a very limited range of mission types and things to do
- Extremely repetitive, with a dispiritingly distant end goal
- Limited matchmaking and customisation options

Whenever I think of pirates, I think about swashbuckling adventures across the seas in search of treasure, blasting the hulls of my enemies to bits as I watch them sink to the bottom of the deep blue.
Pros:
- Great visuals
- First few hours of discovery is great
- Sailing done right
Cons:
- Repetition
- repetition
- repetition
- All that gold on cosmetics upgrades
- Doldrum for days
- No story

Really great game
As someone who is currently playing the alpha I can't say much others than it's good. Really good.

Sea of Thieves
Feedback loops are important to games. It's the experience points that keep us playing. It's the gear that keeps us hunting. And it's the story that keeps us guessing. Although Sea of Thieves lacks these crucial elements in its design, U.K.
