The projections show TLC flash will overtake MLC in volume shipped in the next couple of years. SSDs couldn't stay enthusiast parts forever. The low prices we've seen for the last few months are just the start as companies race to get the lowest cost per gigabyte drives to market since that's what...

SanDisk Ultra II (240GB) SSD Review

Two years ago Samsung dropped the bomb by releasing the first TLC NAND based SSD. I still vividly remember Anand's reaction when I told him about the SSD 840 . I was in Korea for the launch event and was sitting in a press room where Samsung held the announcement.

SanDisk Ultra II SSD

The SanDisk Ultra II SSD delivers the goods as a budget solid-state drive (SSD). The new internal storage device is available in 120GB, 240GB, 480GB, and 960GB capacities that cost just $80, $108, $219 and $495, respectively. This is proving to be, for the most part, a new low in SSD pricing.

The SanDisk Ultra II SSD delivers good performance, and its high-capacity versions are currently the most affordable on the market; The drive includes helpful software

The drive's 120GB version is comparatively expensive; The three-year warranty is not as long as might be expected

SanDisk Ultra II 240 GB SSD review

Sandisk is making a clever move with this Ultra II TLC based SSD series. The trick is to bring the prices down in a very competitive market. The latest iterations from Micron and Samsung make this a hard to dominate domain.

Fast, easy to install

Swapped out the old 320GB 2.5'' 7200RPM in my laptop drive with the Sandisk Ultra II 480GB. It was very small and light. Reinstalled windows 7 Ultimate and all the apps. The 6 year old computer ran MUCH MUCH faster booting up or shutting down. Programs opened instantly after clicking.
