At first glance this looks amazing. 16gb flash drive for about ten dollars (it was on sale). This was one of the best deals I could find at the time for 16gb. The problem I had was the factory installed software.

Have used SanDisk USB drives and products exclusively for several years - until now. I purchased the 32GB Cruzer drive and used it for several months. Without warning, I found the drive to be write-protected.

SanDisk used to have a great program for password protecting its Cruzer flash drives. Using the U3 program, anyone without the password to a stolen/found Cruzer flash drive could not access its files in any manner.

"security" is not secure; access is tedious at best; encryption/unencryption is w-a-a-a-y slow; no way to password protect the whole drive; data is vulnerable to malicious deletion; company unresponsive to user complaints re above

This USB is junk. I wouldn't give it to my worst enemy. The Secure Access program on the flash drive used for setting up password protection caused a blue screen on my brand new custom built gaming desktop computer.

It took about 2 month until the plastic switch broke and I couln't slide the USB connection out again. I needed to break the device to get on my data!

I purchased 2 of these, one of them was DOA out of box, I usually buy Sandisk products and have not had issues until now. The second one is working but now I am worried. I had my best friend buy 2 of these as well since they were on coupon for $16.99 each, both of his were DOA out of box.

Sure this key does hold data, you can plug it in ok (as long as the piece of plastic locking the plug holds out) and it does whatever any other 10 pound USB stick does.. The protection software provided with the key is rubbish!

I had an older and gave it away to a friend and bought another but the new ones writes much slower. This is the first time Im disappointed with a sandisk product.

Write speed peaks at 4mb/sec which is insanely slow for todays flash drives
