UPDATE: while we were wowed by the Samsung UE55F8000 when it launched, newer rivals such as the Panasonic TX-P55VT65B and Philips 55PFL8008 are even more awesome. For that reason the Samsung has dropped to a still very respectable 4 stars. Check out our full, updated Top 10 here .

Samsung UE55F8000 review
The UE55F8000 is a staggeringly good TV in every department. Drop-dead gorgeous looks, an extensive and sophisticated feature set, fabulous picture quality from any source and a new operating system that oozes user-friendliness. Even its sound quality is up to scratch, for heaven's sake.

Without a doubt, the biggest spectacle at this year's Consumer Electronics Show was the Samsung booth. It was enormous, dazzling the masses with a dizzying assortment of products, including what many thought to be the show's star: the S9 UHD TV .

UPDATE: The Samsung UE55F8000 went from five stars to four stars following a 55in 2013 TV Group Test in our July 2013 issue. We first set eyes on the Samsung UE55F8000 – Samsung's flagship LED TV – at CES 2013, in Las Vegas in January.

The Samsung UE55F8000 improves dramatically over its already illustrious predecessor in almost every way, combining class-leading 3D images and outstanding 2D images with a huge, cutting edge feature count and even – honestly!- some startlingly good audio.
Pros:
- Irresistible design
- Outstanding 2D and 3D picture quality
- Comprehensive and beautifully presented Smart TV features
Cons:
- Gesture and voice controls still frustrate at times
- Samsung's Android and iOS app could be better
- No picture preset for AV enthusiasts
