Samsung QE65Q80T review

It’s hard to pick holes in the Q80T. Yes, it has one obvious spec shortcoming and yes, it goes back a bit further than an OLED would. But where it really counts - picture quality - it needs no apologies made for it. If two grand for a new TV seems fair enough to you, you absolutely have to see this one.

Punchy, colourful, high-contrast pictures; Accomplished upscaler; Super-fast with games; Great OS;

No Dolby Vision; No Freeview Play;

Samsung Q80T QLED TV review

Samsung’s premium-priced mid-range QLED barely puts a pedestal wrong, offering vibrant HDR, a forward facing feature set and HD upscaling to die for.

AI-enhanced 4K Quantum image processor; Ultra-low image lag; Superior OTS sound; ;

No Dolby Vision; No Freeview Play; Not the prettiest QLED you can buy

Samsung Q80T series (2020) review: High-end design, excellent picture, approachable price

In 2020, Samsung's TV lineup seems skewed more than ever toward higher-end models: There are three series with 8K resolution, a bunch of lifestyle models such as The Frame, The Sero and even a crazy-expensive outdoor television called The Terrace. Among relatively "normal" TVs, the Q80T stands out. It's not cheap, but it is the least expensive Samsung QLED TV to feature full-array local dimming, which gives it an excellent picture.

The most affordable QLED TV with local dimming hits the sweet spot.

Excellent overall image quality; Superior styling; Wide range of sizes; Numerous features, voice options;

More expensive than competing TVs with similar picture quality;

Perfect TV for next gen gaming

Bought this TV to go with PS5. Did a lot of research beforehand and this TV is the perfect balance of price, picture quality and next gen features like HDMI 2.1 for VRR and 4K 120. Step above the Sony 900H and way more affordable than the CX oleds which are way overpriced in NZ. Hopefully PS5 gets a VRR update so i can try that out but so far picture quality is amazing with the built in smart tv apps such as netflix, disney + and amazon prime. Have it in a bright room with windows on both sides and the picture does well in bright lights and in a dark room in the evenings. Interface is really easy to use and absolutely no issues...view more

Great Value For Money

I am very happy with this purchase, we had a Sony Bravia 4K 55" before and this one is far better quality and quicker to respond. Pros Easy access to cables when mounted QLED 4K Colours and contrast are crisp Fast response in apps and menu Compact and handy remote, without all the digits buttons Fair price Cons Only one button at the back of the TV, hard to use when can't find the remote anywhere and too lazy to use the phone as a remote It's not AndroidTV, so not a very big variety of apps, some apps like PlexTV, Prime, etc. come as ready to be installed Overall 5 starts

A step up for me.

I'm glad it was on sale, I probably would have settled for an inferior model. Picture is terrific. Most impressed by the speed of the operating system, It's as fast as a high end phone.

This TV is incredible

I have done lots of research and was hoping to get a LG CX OLED, but due to the high cost decided to give it a go on the runner up, Samsung QLED Q80T. The picture quality and motion smoothness is another level. Great contrast , deep blacks and the colours look incredible alive. Loving it for PS5, as well as 4K content. Such a great TV, transformed my living room in a cinema room. The fast motion makes gaming and videos so smooth and don't cause eye fatigue. Absolutely no Cons. 10/10 experience.
