I pre-Ordered and purchased this watch alongside the Galaxy Note 10 Plus. I changed phone ecosystems as the Note 10 Plus was everything I wanted at a better price. The watch falls very short of my expectations.
As one of the market’s best alternatives to an Apple Watch, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 is an excellent choice for Android users, or anyone looking for a feature-rich, fitness-focused smartwatch bursting with great health features.
Simple yet stylish design, Bright, clean display, Vibrant and engaging UI, Lots of customisation on offer, Better-than-expected battery life
Lack of third-party app support, UI could be more intuitive, Incremental upgrade over predecessor
The Watch Active 2 comes in both LTE and Bluetooth options and can be pre-ordered now. The Bluetooth model starts at £269/$279 for the 40mm model and £289/$299 for the 44mm. That price rises to £399 and £419 if you want LTE. There's no LTE pricing in the US as yet.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 is a minor upgrade on its predecessor, adding a digital rotating dial, bigger version, currently inactive ECG, and LTE option. But it's also nominally costlier, putting a hefty price on only a few extra features.
Digital haptic dial control is great; Still decent 2-day battery life; Attractive minimalist design
Pricey upgrade; Still very few third-party apps
Just six months after the launch of the Galaxy Watch Active, Samsung is following it up with the next generation of its flagship smartwatch. But why We took a closer look at the new Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 for this first hands-on review.
When I unboxed the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 last week, I was rooting for it. On paper, the Active2 had a lot going for it. It's a good looking watch with solid app offerings and multi-day battery life. It's reasonably priced, and now comes with LTE connectivity.
While the original Watch Active felt like a first-generation product, the Galaxy Watch Active 2 is a product that proves Samsung is listening to user feedback. The touch-sensitive bezel really helps with the overall experience, and there's now LTE connectivity for those who need it.
Sleek; premium design Sharp AMOLED display Touch-enabled bezel for quick navigation Bluetooth + LTE variants for more flexibility ~2 day battery life Fantastic sleep tracking
No MST payments with Samsung Pay Tizen app ecosystem is still lacking compared to Wear OS Heart rate; GPS; and altimeter sensors can be wonky Setup process still needs work
The best watch for Samsung users
Android’s best Apple Watch contender
