What makes the Samsung Galaxy Watch so good, apart from its performance, is the fact that it actually looks like a watch!

A real watch

The Galaxy watch gives a feeling of authenticity thanks to a round face, watch hand shadowing and even the sound of ticking. If you like the look of a real watch, with added smart technology, this is for you.

Customise your watch

What makes the Samsung Galaxy Watch such a standout device is the ability for you to customise it to suit your lifestyle. Bluetooth or standalone LTE models are available, as well as a variety of body sizes and watch faces.

A strapping good watch

As for straps, go with the silicone selection, which comes with the watch, or use one of your own. The Galaxy Watch is compatible with 20mm and 22mm straps, depending on the size you choose.

Always On

Why press a button or turn the bezel on when you don't need to? Simply set the S-AMOLED display so you can see the time at all hours.

More fitness focused

The Samsung Galaxy watch more than holds its own against similar fitness tracking devices, with extra sensors and a revamped Samsung Health app. It auto-detects six of 39 exercises, and pushes you along when you need to up the pace. Sleep, an important part of any health regime, is monitored by an improved tracker.

Staying connected

The Galaxy watch gives you the potential to take calls and messages on the go, and tune into your favourite sounds on the run.

Samsung Galaxy Watch

The first thing you'll have to decide, If you're interested in the Samsung Galaxy Watch, is what size to get. I've got a small wrist, so I initially thought I'd be a candidate for the smaller 42mm model, which comes in midnight black or rose gold and starts at $330 (£279) for the noncellular...
Pros:
  • Samsung's Galaxy Watch has an arguably superior design to Apple's Watch Series 4
  • Battery life is good, it's fully waterproof and you can get hundreds of watch faces for it
  • Samsung has improved its software and enhanced its fitness tracking.
Cons:
  • The Bixby voice-assistant could be better
  • Samsung has quashed some bugs but not all
  • To achieve Samsung's battery life numbers, you have to institute battery-saving measures

Samsung Galaxy Watch review: Brilliant but not quite a breakthrough

The Galaxy Watch is the best smartwatch Samsung has ever made but it's unlikely to convert sceptics. If the revamped branding doesn’t give away the game, Samsung’s Galaxy Watch is meant to telegraph the start of something new when it comes to South Korean company’s efforts in the wearable space.
Pros:
  • Great battery life
  • Solid interface
Cons:
  • Bixby underwhelming
  • Lacks third-party software support

Can it be any better No, it's the best!

I've had the watch for about a month now and still haven't utilized all the features. All my worries about performance got doused as I used the watch. Replying to text is made so easy with voice to text, the call quality is so clear and the battery life is great.

Samsung Galaxy Watch

While the Galaxy Watch isn't perfect, it's one of the best alternatives to the Apple Watch, especially if you aren't an iPhone user. It earns points on style, and the rotating bezel and Tizen are more intuitive to use than Wear OS. That said, Samsung still has a way to go with its fitness tracking.
Pros:
  • Lasts up to five days on a single charge
  • Crisp AMOLED screen
  • Rotating bezel
  • Accurate heart rate monitor
  • Resistant to dust and water
Cons:
  • Expensive
  • 46mm version is chunky
  • Fitness tracking accuracy not up to par in testing
