Hands on: Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic review
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic is a standard premium smartwatch, and it has both the perks and the drawbacks of such devices. It’s hardy and good-looking, with loads of useful features, and a rotating bezel that works especially well for navigating menus. However, it costs a lot, and won’t sit well on all wrists, even average-sized ones.- Rotating bezel works well
- Plenty of health features
- Pricier than sibling
- Doesn’t fit all wrists
Samsung Galaxy Watch Series 4 Stainless R880 (42mm, Silver) - BRAND NEW review
- Advanced processor. Third-party app ecosystem seems promising. Gives more customizability to Android users.
- Battery life is a little disappointing. Body composition feature is tricky. Really, no Google Assistant? Drops iOS compatibility.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic review
The best smartwatch on the market right now, hampered only by the fact that some of its latest and greatest features are exclusive to Samsung Galaxy users. You also pay a premium for that Classic styling.- Wear OS works better than ever
- Tasteful, tactile design
- Feature-packed
- Great performance
- Some Samsung phone-exclusive features
- Price premium for Classic styling
- Wear OS 3 with caveats
Samsung Galaxy Watch Series 4 Stainless R880 (42mm, Black) - BRAND NEW review
If we’re honest, Android has never had a great smartwatch option to rival the Apple Watch. In a bid to change that, Samsung and Google partnered up to create Wear OS 4 and, with it, the Galaxy Watch 4. And, in a few words? It’s a beautiful Frankenstein monster. And, the best Wear OS watch yet.- The best Wear OS watch yet, Wear OS apps!, Runs super smooth
- Samsung apps required for non-Samsung phones, Not all features work on non-Samsung phones, Bixby only
Samsung Galaxy Watch Series 4 Stainless R880 (42mm, Black) - BRAND NEW review
I would love to rate this watch higher. Loverly watch, beautiful design and display. But the battery estimate is 1Day and 5Hours. And 1Day 12Hours with Powesave on. My old Samsung galaxy watch 1st gen lasted at least 2 days.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic review
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic has all the traits of a premium smartwatch, but it falls short in a few key areas. While its rotating bezel makes navigation a breeze, and it ticks lots of boxes in terms of fitness and software, it’s fiddly to control when you’re working out, its battery life is awful, and while these issues might be justifiable to a degree in a budget wearable, they’re hard to take in a watch that’s billed as a premium device.- Rotating bezel feels intuitive for navigation
- Solid build
- Display looks great
- Battery life is awful
- Exorbitant price
- Workout controls are fiddly
Samsung Galaxy Watch Series 4 Stainless R880 (42mm, Silver) - BRAND NEW review
The Wear OS-powered Galaxy Watch 4 acts as the perfect equivalent of an Apple Watch but for the Android ecosystem. However, although it's a great wearable that would fit just about anybody, the Galaxy Watch 4 fails to deliver in one key aspect that's ultimately the most important feature of a...- Stylish design, Bright and vivid OLED display, Excellent health tracking, Wear OS is a great match, Good haptic feedback
- One-day battery life at best, Gimmicky capacitive rotating bezel, No Google Assistant support yet
Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic review: A first-rate smartwatch
Does the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic have what it takes to top our list of the best Android smartwatches? After all, its predecessor, the Galaxy Watch 3, has done so since its release, meaning we have high expectations. Making the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic’s already hard job even tougher is that it also has to introduce us to a new operating system at the same time as wowing us with its hardware. Just by looking at the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, it’s obvious Samsung has done its job on the design, but what about the new Wear OS 3 software? There’s a lot to go through here, but don’t worry, this is a feature-packed smartwatch worthy of both your attention and your money. At first glance, the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic doesn’t look that different from the Galaxy Watch 3, but examine it more closely and there are subtle refinements that give the new model a more cohesive, mature, and watch-like style. The stainless steel case itself comes in either 42mm or 46mm sizes, and I am wearing the 46mm m...- Cohesive, mature design
- Rotating bezel is intuitive
- One Watch UI is neat and logical
- Comprehensive health tracking
- Choice of style and size
- Battery doesn't last two full days
- Wear OS 3 software lacks polish
- Too large to wear at night
The Galaxy Watch 4 is Samsung’s best smartwatch to date, but annoying restrictions mean it’s less appealing than it should be
- Impressive performance
- Access to more apps than before
- Attractively priced
- Mediocre battery life
- No ECG unless you have a Samsung phone
- Doesn’t offer all Wear OS features
Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic review
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic sees most of the best bits of the Galaxy Watch 3 grafted onto Google’s Wear OS software. Pretty much all the best new bits are down to Samsung not Google, even in the redesigned software. It lasts less long than the Galaxy Watch 3 off a charge, although you may have a better experience if you buy the larger 46mm version. So, is it a downgrade? No, we need to take a wider view here. Samsung’s top watches use Wear OS, soon Fitbit’s ones will too. As much as we like Samsung’s old Tizen software, it was never an apps and features powerhouse. The Galaxy Watch 4 Classic already has access to more apps, and the future of the platform looks brighter than ever. And, hey, even if Wear OS does end up heading nowhere all that exciting in the next couple of years, Samsung has already done enough to make this the number Apple Watch alternative. Particularly for Samsung phone owners.- Good fitness tracking
- The best Wear OS watch to date
- Retains plenty of Samsung flavour
- Short battery life in 42mm version
- Some interface quirks during exercise
- Compatibility restrictions for non-Samsung phones
