Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 review: A genuine iPad rival
The Tab S2 is impressively slim and light, but at £399 for the 9.7-inch model it's pretty expensive considering the better-built competition.- Vibrant display
- 4:3 aspect ratio works well in portrait or landscape orientation
- Ultra slim and lightweight design
- MicroSD slot for storage expansion
- It's pretty expensive
- Build not as high-end as competitors
- Graphical limitations
- Lower resolution than predecessor
- Battery life not great
There is a simple truth here: Not everyone who wants a tablet wants an iPad. I would say most people do but there are plenty who do not like Apple, iOS or following the crowd - or who simply prefer Android and Samsung. For those people, this is the tablet to buy.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 review
When I first wrote about the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2, my dad remarked of the news story , "So, I heard Samsung is making a new iPad?" This perfectly sums up how average consumers view tablets as a product category.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 review: the closest thing yet to an Android iPad
Is the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 the slate to unseat Apple? Not quite, but in many ways it feels like an Android iPad. It's a joy to use thanks to a thin and light design, a big and bright screen and plenty of power, which are the most important things really.- Good screen
- Thin and light
- Strong performance
- Average battery
- Erratic fingerprint scanner
- Plain design
Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 SM T815Y Tablet White
Light AMOLED Tablet, the Samsung Galaxy S2 Tablet Pros:-The high-performing Samsung Galaxy S2 tablet boasts of being a light and slim AMOLED tablet that is compact, stylish, and feature-rich alike.
Very good Tablet for fun and social media use.
Nice screen, colorful, too many apps, confusing to figure out. If you are looking for a laptop substitute no tablet will do it. It's light and easy to carry when traveling but as a hardcore computer user I find it difficult to do things on the tablet.- Good colors
- fairly big screen
- easy to hold
- annoying ad at top
- no music app
- confusing
Samsung Galaxy Tab S2
The Galaxy Tab S2 is powered by a non-removable 4,000mAh battery, which during my tests proved surprisingly capable. Streaming Netflix on Wi-Fi, with the screen in the auto setting, the Galaxy Tab S2 discharged between 10 to 15% of its charge per hour.- Powerful processor
- Great display
- Decent battery
- Touchwiz skin still not great
- Runs old version of Android
Not Perfect, but As Good As it (Currently) Gets
No, the Galaxy Tablet S2 is not perfect. But it is exactly what you'd expect: a classy, state-of-the-art device that delivers all the features it should. The micro-SD expandability is a must-have - I can't believe people will pay close to $1,000 for devices that don't allow expandable storage.
Fair price
This was a Christmas present for grandson. Black Friday order was unexpectedly cancelled at last minute. This works but real hassle to get one and have it delivered in time. Of course price was more for smaller tablet.
Best tablet I have owned to date
First of all, let me say this; I bought this tablet to lighten my load on a trip overseas. I also wanted something more than just my phone for access to social media. This thing rocks. Beautiful display, sturdier storage for micro-SD card. No longer limited to 2.4 GHz wireless.(this is dual band).
