Samsung Galaxy S9 review: A refined evolution

While it's not perfect, the Galaxy S9 is a fantastic device. It's got a brilliant display, great camera, brilliant performance all-round, and in a body that's easily one of the most elegant ever released. Its stereo sound makes such a difference to media consumption too.

Brilliant display; Stereo sound is surprisingly powerful; Curved glass and metal is very attractive; Comfortable to use; Super speedy and fluid performance

Battery isn't great; Camera over-exposes highlights regularly; AR Emoji and Bixby need a lot of improving; Expensive

Samsung's flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series, play a pivotal role in the company's ability to dominate global markets. Last year's Galaxy S8 , Galaxy S8+ and Galaxy Note 8 ( Review ) helped Samsung capture a big chunk of the global market in 2017, passing Apple along the way,...

Love it

I pre ordered this phone and I love it. I've changed from iPhone best bit is when you set the phone up it asks if you want to transfer just plug them in together with adaptor provided and 30 minutes later it was complete. Very impressed. Very user friendly and the camera is amazing!

This review is a collaboration between Chris and Jason, who respectively have been reviewing the Galaxy S9+ in Lilac Purple, and the smaller Galaxy S9 in Midnight Black. There's more than just size between them; the larger Galaxy S9+ features two rear cameras (a first for Samsung's Galaxy S line,...

Samsung's latest flagship is really good if you spend most of your time in Instagram feeds or creating content for the internet. For everything else the handset is just a marginal upgrade on last year's Galaxy S8 but you'll be pleased to know that the experience has been refined somewhat in a number...

Samsung Galaxy S9

Samsung has gone down the Apple route of only making minor tweaks, but this has resulted in one of the best Android phones this year

Superb screen for video; Powerful performance; Dual-aperture camera is effective; Well built; Great design

Audio still lacks the last word in timing

Great phone!

I was very hesitant at first, because I've had LG for a very long time, but I decided to make the switch to the galaxy S9. And I love it! Very easy to use, great camera, has pretty much everything I need. Glad I made the switch!

Samsung Galaxy S9 review

While it may not have been the company which started the trend - some would argue that honour falls to Xiaomi with its stunning Mi Mix - Samsung is arguably the firm that popularised the concept of a 'big screen' smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy S9 Smartphone Review

We prefer the Samsung Galaxy S9 over its larger sibling S9+. It is not as bulky and the dual-camera is not worth the additional price. The Korean manufacturer once again delivers a really great smartphone, but it is more of a facelift of last year's Galaxy S8 and there are still some bugs, and some...

appealing design, great display, fast SoC, LTE Cat; 18, protected against water and dust, expandable storage, Dual-SIM SKU available (Duos, good sensor equipment, USB 3.1 with DP, HDMI, and OTG, great camera, wireless charging, Ultra HD videos at 60 FPS

can overheat under load; videos at 60 FPS with a limited runtime; no Dual-VoLTE; long charging time; warranty excludes damages caused by liquids

Samsung Galaxy S9

Last year Samsung didn't unveil a Galaxy smartphone at MWC 17, instead focusing on its manufacturing standards and unveiling the Galaxy S8 a couple of months later. The move proved a smart one, with the Galaxy S8 taking top spot in our books as the best phone of the year.

Impressive design; Bright and crisp display; Great all round camera; High powered processor

Bixby still meh; Not a huge step up from S8
