The Samsung Galaxy S6 edge is certainly a breath of fresh air when it comes to offering something different to your average smartphone. The step up in build quality is quite obvious and the range of onboard features is excellent.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

Every year Samsung and co. do their best to convince us we need to spend yet another £500 on a shiny new phone. This year's big attraction is curves. Alongside the normal Galaxy S6 sits the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.

Samsung Galaxy S6 edge review: Double down

How big of an impact can a small change have? The Samsung Galaxy S6 edge has only the extra screen curves compared to the vanilla Galaxy S6, but these two phones couldn't feel any more different - it's a difference that you can readily feel when you hold them in your hand.

Curved screen; thin (7mm) profile; premium dual-glass design reinforced by a metal frame; 5.1" Super AMOLED of QHD (1440 x 2560) resolution; class-leading ~577ppi; Corning Gorilla Glass 4; Exynos 7420 64-bit chipset; octa core processor with four 2.1GHz Cortex-A57's and four 1.5GHz Cortex-A53 cores,...

Pricier than its sibling; with only the curved screen to show for it; No water or dust protection; No user-replaceable battery; No microSD slot; No FM radio; No stereo speakers

Samsung has really turned around the build of its phones; Its old plastic models felt a bit cheap, but the Galaxy S6 Edge is one of the snazziest-feeling phones made; In the world; Ever.

Pretty much everything is better than last year's Samsungs in the Galaxy S6 Edge; However, that old Samsung software bloat is still here; You can get rid of some of it, but being lumbered with the Samsung Apps store can leave a bitter taste in the mouth.

Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge review: Samsung's best phones in years

Samsung has a lot riding on its 2015 flagship, and this time it's put its best foot forward. With its super-fast, homebrew processor, a pair of great cameras and a surprisingly clean version of TouchWiz, the S6 is the finest Galaxy Samsung has ever made. Now, if only it were waterproof.

Sturdy; stylish design; Impeccable camera experience; Great day-to-day performance; TouchWiz is finally worth using; Stunning design; The curved screen is gorgeous; Impeccable camera experience; Great day-to-day performance

Battery life could be better; Fingerprint sensor can be flaky; It's not waterproof; No microSD or removable battery; The curved screen doesn't do much; Battery life could be better; No microSD or removable battery; It's not waterproof

Samsung's Galaxy S6 is a fantastic smartphone . But maybe you find it boring. Maybe it's disappointing that the new Android standard-bearer looks so much like an Apple product. If that's the case, perhaps the Galaxy S6 Edge is more your speed.

Galaxy S6 Edge review: Innovative, impressive -- and impractical

Let this serve as a lesson: Looks can be deceiving. Samsung has introduced two new phones in its Galaxy line, and it's interesting to compare the two. Samsung's Galaxy S6 is a gorgeous phone that's both beautiful and brimming with top-notch technology. It really is an impressive device.

Striking and distinctive; technologically impressive

More expensive than regular Galaxy S6; sloped screen makes text, images and videos harder to view; tapping and typing can be awkward and unnatural; Edge-specific features not particularly useful; narrower frame makes phone harder to hold

Samsung Galaxy S6 edge review: the best Android phone on the planet right now

If you haven't had a Samsung phone for a while, you're probably a bit wary of the S6. Rest assured, things have improved considerably . There is far less bloatware than we're used to, and TouchWiz has transformed from a badly-named, badly-designed UI to something that mostly gets out of the way of...

1; That screen, 2; Built-in wireless charging, 3; Exceptional camera with really useful features

1; Weakish battery, 2; Headphone jack is on the bottom, 3; Very expensive
