The past couple of months have seen a dizzying array of "hero" smartphones hit the Australian marketplace. They're all around the same kinds of price points outright or on contract, so which one should you pick? This week: Samsung's feature-packed Galaxy S4.

Samsung Galaxy S4
Purchased this phone not even a month ago (day it came out) and have had problems ever since. Lags continuously, fast battery life, deletes messages you're writing right before your eyes, constantly runs apps which you've given no permission to run or you've forced close (which you ALWAYS have to do...
Pros:
- camera
- bright colourful screen
Cons:
- slow processor, lags constantly, short battery life, pointless software, always running apps when you force close, bad reception
- especially in regards to internet

Review: Samsung GALAXY S4
Cinema Shot : This app captures multiple frames and makes the photograph livelier by turning it into an animated image. Once the photo is taken, the app highlights the spots that can be animated. If you're not happy with these suggestions, you can manually select the area via the edit mode.
Pros:
- Excellent screen
- Superb camera quality
- Loads of camera features
- Great sound quality
- Supports multiple video formats out of the box
- Good battery life
Cons:
- Uninspiring design
- Flimsy back cover
- Noticeable lag in certain basic tasks
- Cluttered UI
- Uncomfortable for single-handed use
- Expensive

Review Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 Smartphone
Who has come up with the figure of speech that it's lonely at the top, anyway? There are numerous promising high-end smartphones , and not all of them are made by Apple or Samsung. Now, the Galaxy S4 has to fend off the HTC One , the Nokia Lumia 920 and the Sony Xperia Z .
Pros:
- Extremely high system and 3D performance
- Includes basically all existing communication technologies
- Excellent Full HD display
- Comprehensive set of accessories
- Numerous ways to control the phone
- Surprisingly compact and light
- Ships with some useful pre-installed apps
- Good camera
- great camera...
Cons:
- Plastic case
- Multitude of ways to control the phone can be overwhelming
- Many features only work in specific apps
- Pre-installed bloatware
- Speakers could sound better
- The Galaxy S4 marks a successful evolutionary step in the development of the series
- but it arrives without any groundbreaking...

Are there no limits to what the Galaxy S4 can do? Just yesterday, it helped save the world from an alien invasion, right before giving birth to a little one that, we're told, will eventually be known as the S4 mini. ( Editor: go easy on the puns there pal ).
Pros:
- Superb screen
- versatile camera
- speedy performance
- software features
Cons:
- The range of features could get confusing
- mixed success with some features such as Air Glance and Air call-accept

Samsung Galaxy S4
Although the S4 will probably triumph in the sales arena, the HTC One is still our pick.
Pros:
- Brilliant display
- Great performance from the octa-core CPU
- Runs on the latest edition of Android
- IR blaster functionality is handy
- Excellent snapper with plethora of camera and video features
- Good battery
Cons:
- Plastic build doesnt match the premium feel of rivals like the HTC One and iPhone 5
- Low-light photo quality is no match for rivals such as the Nokia Lumia 920
- Capacitive buttons cannot be seen in direct sunlight on the white S4

Most Complete Package
This phone is the most complete package. I came off from an iP4S and grabbed the HTC One, because of the metal casing. After I had it a week, I realized i wanted a bigger screen. The front speakers just wasted valuable space. I also realized the metal wasn't that big of a deal.

Samsung Galaxy S4
The fight is on. It is really on now. HTC played the first stroke, with that gorgeous HTC One. Samsung responded with the Galaxy S4. Fair amount of criticism has been showed S4's way for the plastic build. The aluminum unibody on the HTC One has taken the benchmark a tad further, without doubt.
Pros:
- Excellent performance
- Crisp and vivid display
- Plethora of unique features
- Good battery life
- Camera works well in good light
Cons:
- Lacks that premium feel
- Too many features can confuse
