Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini review: Best entry-level Android $1 can buy
First-time smartphone buyers get a lot for a little with Samsung's year-old Galaxy S3 Mini, but keep in mind that this is no high-end performer. One dollar on contract. That's pretty much all you need to know about why AT&T is selling an Android phone that's a year old, and why anyone would choose the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini over many other "minis" -- the HTC One Mini, Motorola Droid Mini, and iPhone 5C included.- The Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini delivers Android 4.2, 4G LTE, NFC, and a solid 5-megapixel camera for just $1 on contract.
- Mediocre call quality and internal speed hiccups are two trade-offs for the price
- you'll especially notice shutter lag.
Samsung Galaxy S III Mini
Not a bad budget phone, but performance is mediocre and the screen isn't brilliant either
Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini
The S3 Mini's processor is also significantly less powerful than that of its bigger brother, a downgrade from quad-core 1.4 GHz to dual-core 1 GHz. Still, that's more than fast enough for most applications and the S3 Mini does benefit from shipping with the latest version of Android – 4.1 'Jelly...- Pocket-friendly size
- Android Jelly Bean
- Mediocre screen resolution
- Not as powerful as S3
Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini review Review
Overall, the S3 Mini is a very likable handset. It looks stylish, is slick and smooth to use and runs the latest version of Android. Unlike the S3 however, it doesn't crush all the similarly priced competition that went before it with its sheer weight of features.- Latest version of Android
- Decent battery life and call quality
- Feels comfortable in your hand
- Too expensive
- Outclassed by the cheaper Google Nexus 4
Samsung Galaxy S III Mini
With the top end of the market practically sewn up, Samsung is looking to push that success into the middle of the pack with the Samsung Galaxy S III Mini. It looks like the company's top phone, but the specs see it as more of a replacement for the Samsung Galaxy S Plus.- Great build and nice design
- plenty of tweaking to offer a wide range of functionality
- microSD card slot
- good battery life
- Feels unexpectedly sluggish
- looks overpriced
Samsung Galaxy S3 mini review
By emulating the fabulous Galaxy S3 in design terms, Samsung may have shot itself in the foot. The handset looks like it should be a smaller version of a great phone, but in fact it is cut down not just in size and that's bound to disappoint many people.- Solid design
- Good battery life
- Nice motion-based features
- Good camera options
- Android 4.1
- Expensive
Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini review
The actual Galaxy S3 is still very much top of Samsung's smartphone tree, so don't be confused by this stripped down alternative -- it looks like a slightly smaller S3 at first glance, but sits quite a few branches further down, with a slower processor, duller screen, less capable camera and a...-

Samsung Galaxy S III mini in-depth review -
What's in a name? Everything, apparently. Samsung's latest mid-ranger is a miniature of its flagship powerhouse, the Galaxy S III – appropriately named the Galaxy S III mini, it's hoping to hop abroad the train of glory pulled by its bigger, badder bro.- Android Jelly Bean OS is brilliant
- sturdier build than the S III
- A bit expensive particularly as it has no standout feature
- imperfect virtual keyboard
