Samsung Galaxy S III mini review: The Halfling
Is the Samsung I8190 a shrunk-down Galaxy S III? It vastly depends on your understanding of a mini version, but we believe that it isn't. It's more of a Galaxy S Advance repackaged in an Galaxy S III-styled body and with a tad extra RAM. It's not a bad phone, it's just not what we expected to get.
Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini
Despite the name, the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini is the perfect size for many people, put off by the grotesque proportions of the latest Android super phones, and Apple's closed off iOS software. And its looks and software are easy on the eye too.
I just love this phone. The UI is great and very snappy - almost no lag at all. The phone has also got great aesthetics (it looks a lot better in real life than in pictures). It's also got all of the S3's features, such as Smart Stay and Direct Call.
Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini review
At £200 the Galaxy S3 Mini would be a thoroughly excellent proposition with Android Jelly Bean, excellent battery life, and above average performance. But it costs around £300 offline and, given the competition, that's way to expensive for what's on offer here.- Excellent performance
- even on CPU/GPU-intensive games
- great battery life
- Android Jelly Bean (4.1.1
- Way too expensive
- weak camera
- limited storage
Review: Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini
Samsung's flagship S3 smartphone gets a ‘mini' sibling – but just how far has the apple fallen from the tree?
Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini
It's hard not to like the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini. While its specifications are by no means as impressive as those found on the full-sized Galaxy S3, it's worth noting that it's much cheaper than its older brother at around £300 SIM-free.- Nice design
- good camera
- excellent battery life
- runs Google's up to date Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system
- Noticed some lag
- screen disappointing compared to the Galaxy S3
- High price tag compared to similar or better phones
Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini
A solid, shrunken down version of its bigger brother but we can't recommend the Mini over the cheaper and far superior Nexus 4
Smart looking phone
Use the phone at all times had the first galaxy that came out changed for iPhone not all there cracked up to be so decided to go back to galaxy a child could operate the phone so easy to use swipe screen is very easy the mini is just about the right size I,love it- Easy to navigate
- Easy to understand
- Expensive looking
- Nice size screen
- I have none
Samsung Galaxy S3 mini review
By emulating the fabulous Galaxy S3 in design terms, Samsung may have shot itself in the foot. The handset looks like it should be a smaller version of a great phone, but in fact it is cut down not just in size and that's bound to disappoint many people.- Solid design
- Good battery life
- Nice motion-based features
- Good camera options
- Android 4.1
- Expensive
Samsung Galaxy S III mini review: a small Galaxy with few stars
Oh, Samsung, what did you do? We think we know what you thought you were doing. A cheaper phone for those who want a little bit of the Galaxy S III experience, for less money, in a more manageable form. And that's what the Galaxy S III mini actually is.- Excellent battery life
- Same software experience as GS3 (i9300
- Attractive
- modern design
- Disappointing specs for a "GS III" handset
- Price still too high for the feature set
