Samsung Galaxy Note 9 review: The best never felt so bland

If you want pure power and performance, the Galaxy Note 9 is the best Android phone you can buy, but it's expensive and not very exciting.

Great screen; great specs; great camera; S Pen has some cool new tricks; Giant battery means it'll last through most days

It's expensive; It still runs Android Oreo and probably will for a while; Bixby isn't as good as Google Assistant and you can't turn off the button...

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 review: The best never felt so bland

The Galaxy Note 9 is Samsung's passionate love letter to Note fans. It has insane specs, a gigantic, gorgeous screen, a Bluetooth-powered S Pen, and a headphone jack-all critical features for the kind of Android user that Samsung is targeting with a Note update.

Samsung has hit a home run with the Galaxy Note 9 – never before has a device delivered in performance, power, design and features. The company took a tentative step forward with last year's Note 8 – the first device since the ill-fated Note 7 – yet still a key moment to deliver a new device to the...

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 review: A sensational big-screen experience

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is a catalogue of successes. With a premium build, an absolutely excellent screen, a mature software experience, great cameras, all the power you could possibly need, excellent battery life and fabulous AKG-tuned speakers, there's little it gets wrong.

Excellent display; Great camera performance in low-light; 3.5mm headphone jack; Bluetooth-enabled S Pen; Fantastic battery life

So many features you'll likely never find; Expensive; Bixby button can no longer be redirected; S9+ may suit more casual users

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Smartphone 512GB Midnight Black SM-N960FZKFNZC review

A near-perfect phone for true phone enthusiasts. If only the giant battery lasted a little longer

Great screen; Top-notch performance; Better than ever S-Pen; Superb cameras

Battery life is only ok for its size

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Review: Android's best

Stuck in the same Galaxy

Impressive specs; Stellar display; Stylus functionally remains top tier

Expensive; especially in Canada; Not that much of an upgrade over the Note 8; Camera improvements are marginal

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Smartphone 512GB Midnight Black SM-N960FZKFNZC review

Yes, if you are looking for an Android work horse. Yes, if you are looking for an upgrade from your earlier Note devices. Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is clearly one of the best Android phones you can buy, but the S Pen is the one reason why you might end up buying it in the end.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 review

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is the best smartphone that money can buy. Unfortunately, it's going to take all of your money to buy it (or at least more than you're likely budgeting for a smartphone purchase this year). The iPhone X drove prices to this level, and we complained then, too.

Beautiful 6.4-inch Infinity Display; Superb camera; even in low light; Battery and storage last and last; Bluetooth S Pen shortcuts are fun

Expensive; A lot of small upgrades; No HDR video recording; We hate the Bixby button
