Samsung Galaxy Note 4 review

Big phones, phablets, or whatever term you want to call them - the big-screen category is here to stay. The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 represents not only the most crucial big-screen device from the Korean company for a couple of years but, sub-genres brushed to one side for a moment, perhaps the most...

Built-in S Pen stylus and related features; great screen quality; decent battery life; super powerful; improved multi-screen and software functionality; quality camera; fast 4G connectivity (CAT 6 LTE-A

Still a plastic rear panel; some app/software excess; fingerprint detection unwieldy at this size; some multi-screen functions are long-winded and fussy to operate

Samsung Galaxy Note 4: Spawn of Galaxy Alpha and a Note 3 unveiled

Looking like the result of a night of vigorous rumpy-pumpy between a Galaxy Note 3 and a Galaxy Alpha, Samsung's Galaxy Note 4 is a solid if unspectacular improvement on the previous model.

Gorgeous Super AMOLED display; Excellent S Pen; Great specification; Good battery life; Super camera

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 review

The Note 4 is the big powerhouse in Samsung's Galaxy phone range and it just keeps getting better with each iteration. This latest model gets a new processor, an even sharper screen and a couple of improved cameras. The Galaxy Note 4 is on sale now for £629 SIM free.

Terrific screen; fast processor; slim but sturdy build; expandable memory; plenty of features; decent battery life

TouchWiz might be a bit busy for some; not waterproof; expensive

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is an excellent smartphone that any phablet fan would love to own. Its stylus works perfectly, its screen is gorgeous, its camera is powerful, and its processor blazes.

A spectacular camera; a huge battery; a solid processor and a stylus to boot – the Note 4 has just every feature a smartphone fanatic would want

The phone is big and clunky and can be rather uncomfortable to hold; thanks to its hard edges and a bezel that's distinctly separate from its screen

Galaxy Note 4 review

Big screen smartphones are an increasingly popular item in most businesses, and for good reason. While large-screen smartphones aren't trouser pocket friendly, the extra screen real estate makes them much more convenient to use for productivity purposes, such as document editing and emails.

Great screen; S Pen; decent performance; above average camera and battery

Only 32GB of storage, relatively expensive Build quality was another area in which the Galaxy Note 4 impressed; While we've not always been the biggest fans of Samsung designs - the removable backplate is often flimsy, for example - the Galaxy Note 4 does feel well built

Review – Samsung Galaxy Note 4

S ometimes Samsung doesn't get the credit it deserves. Fans gush over Apple's ability to create new product categories overnight, yet its South Korean rival created what is arguably one of the most popular today: the "phablet" For the uninitiated, the phablet is the tag given to any phone so large...

Obscenely fast; Stylus and split-screen work well; Sound battery life

Yet more Samsung bloatware; Note Android 5.0 Lollipop yet; Falls short of the iPhone 6 Plus' looks

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Review

Next to the iPhone 6, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is easily one of the most eagerly anticipated handsets of 2014. Here are our thoughts

Gorgeous display; Long lasting battery life; Excellent stylus and multitasking features; Powerful performance; Highly capable and easy-to-use camera; Good design and build on the whole; Plenty of storage and good connectivity options

Tacky back panel; Some weird/gross UI elements

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is the highest-performing Android-based smartphone we have tested to date. Whether we're referring to CPU or GPU performance, the 2.7GHz Snapdragon 805 SoC with its Adreno 420 graphics engine at the heart of the Note 4 put up some of the best numbers we have seen.

Great Performance; Good Battery Life; Beautiful Screen; S-Pen; Excellent Camers

A Bit Pricey; Will Be Too Big For Some Users; TouchWiz Virtually Everywhere
