This handset is actually a combination of the Galaxy S Advance and the DLP LED Pico projector. But how good the combination works out, let's find out. Samsung Galaxy Beam is not the first projector phone in India. Many Indian brands like Intex and Spice have tried it with their feature phones.
Pros:
  • Good performance
  • Display and camera
  • Very good projector
  • Excellent battery life
Cons:
  • Projector application need some refinement
  • Inclusion of projector increases cost Slightly bulky

GREAT FOR CAMPING ETC BUT...

This is a pretty good device, but for the price it should have been fitted with a higher specification projector (certainly as this is the only viable reason that this device carries such a high premium).

A cell phone with a built-in projector. Enough said.

I was in the market for a smart touch-screen phone, and I've been looking around for the past year or so. When the Samsung Beam came onto the market, I knew it was the phone for me. Not only does it have all of the features that smart phone users have become accustomed to, but the built-in projector...

Here at CHIP Malaysia, we love to see creative and unusual ideas come to life, even if they serve little purpose aside from just surprising us for a few moments. The Samsung GALAXY Beam is one such product, and after seeing a prototype of it in action several months back at the Samsung SEA Forum,...
Pros:
  • Novel idea with projector
  • Good phone performance
Cons:
  • Runs Android Gingerbread out of the box

Samsung Galaxy Beam Review

And here it is in our hands, one of the more notable handsets in recent memory, the pico projector-laden Samsung Galaxy Beam . We remember how excited we were in 2009 when we handled the first Samsung phone with built-in projector, the I7410 , and the next year when the first Beam made its way to...
Pros:
  • Built-in 15 lumen pico projector
  • Large capacity battery plus a spare one in the box
Cons:
  • Camera pictures oftentimes come with a yellowish overcast

Samsung Galaxy Beam review: stay for the projector, but nothing more

There's definitely some excitement to be had when reviewing a device so out of the ordinary, but we found it a little difficult to make a final judgment call. The Galaxy Beam does well at what it claims to be good at (projecting media), but it's otherwise mediocre at best.
Pros:
  • Projector works well
  • Excellent battery life
  • Solid and sturdy build
Cons:
  • Runs on obsolete build of Android
  • Low-end specs don't match professional needs

Samsung Galaxy Beam review

The Samsung Galaxy Beam is certainly different from everything else around it: none of the other handsets in our Best Smartphones list have their own projector. Look at the front and it's a decently styled Android phone with a bright, colourful screen and fetching yellow coloured edge band.
Pros:
  • Cool projection effect
  • Cute design
  • Decent performance

Samsung Galaxy Beam i8530

Samsung may be locked in various legal battles around the world about whether or not it copied design elements from Apple's products, but there's no doubting that Samsung has produced some innovative products this year, including the Note 2 and the Galaxy Beam that we're looking at here.
Pros:
  • Projector works really well in darker rooms
  • Supplied with two batteries
  • Reasonably attractive design
Cons:
  • Very expensive given the spec
  • Screen and camera could be better
  • Runs an older version of Android

Beam

The galaxy beam is focused at businessmen who make presentations very often. The screen is 4.0 inches with TouchWiz UI. Underneath is a rather slow 1 Ghz dual core processor, but what makes this phone stand out is that it has an in-built projector.
