Samsung Galaxy A71 review

While it's a shame that picture and sound quality haven't been upgraded, the iPhone 13 was great in these regards and the iPhone 14 is, too Excellent display Admirable headphone performance Solid build quality No upgrades to picture or sound Familiar design Notch is still present

Samsung Galaxy A71 review

Apple's latest non-Pro iPhone is superb - it's just that it's strikingly similar to last year's effort.

Still an incredible smartphone, Brilliant battery life gets a bit better, Excellent camera system gets a bit better

Last year’s Pro hardware, Wireless charging slow by modern standards, No USB-C; it’s now well overdue

Samsung Galaxy A71 Prism Crush Black SM-A715FZKDNZC review

The Samsung Galaxy A71 packs in a big 6.7-inch display, four rear cameras and a huge 4,500mAh battery at a price point which won't break the bank. It could well be a winning formula.

Big; colorful screen; Huge battery; Premium camera experience

No water resistance; No wireless charging

Samsung Galaxy A71 Prism Crush Black SM-A715FZKDNZC review

So, do we think that the Galaxy A71 is a decent upgrade from its predecessor, the A70? Yes, absolutely. It retains the same screen size as the A70 but has leveled up in several aspects, such as its chipset, RAM, and overall look.

Visually pleasing design; Immersive and large Super AMOLED Plus display; Good selfie camera; Long battery life; Decent performance

Samsung Galaxy A71 Prism Crush Black SM-A715FZKDNZC review

The Galaxy A71 is an excellent overall smartphone with touches of what makes Samsung flagships great. It’s a gorgeous device with some of the best mid-range hardware plus a set of decent shooters to boot.

Samsung Galaxy A71 Prism Crush Black SM-A715FZKDNZC review

In the past, it was always a little hard to recommend mid-range Samsung smartphones. Despite being the largest smartphone maker in the world, with a wealth of products across pretty much every price point and major market, Samsung’s affordable devices always scored poorly on the price-to-performance...

Samsung Galaxy A71 - Prism Crush Black SM-A715FZKDVNZ review

Samsung's A-series continues to impress on software, features, and connectivity

About an hour to charge from dead, Flagship-like in-hand feel and design, Anti-fingerprint coloration and design; 6.7-inch Super AMOLED FHD+ display, Responsive, bright display, 5G support works as expected, Bluetooth 5.0, Performance feels like a flagship, Flagship software-side features only...

Less than impressive battery drain; Plastic construction; Night Mode camera isn't great by any stretch; Slow fingerprint scanner; Camera is often better with scene optimizer turned off

Samsung Galaxy A71 - Prism Crush Black SM-A715FZKDVNZ review

We highly recommend the Samsung Galaxy A71 especially if you are looking for a more premium phone but doesn’t want to spend as much as buying a flagship. It has a great screen, great build, good cameras, stable videos, decent battery life and also support for Android 10 and its next version.

Samsung Galaxy A71 - Prism Crush Black SM-A715FZKDVNZ review

Samsung's one of the biggest smartphone players around, and while we drool over cutting-edge devices like the Note20 or Fold2, these luxury handsets are hardly its primary business.

Display Big, bright, colorful, and I don't even mind the punch-out; Endurance Between the 4,500mAh battery and the efficient Snapdragon chip, you shouldn't be running out of juice anytime soon; Cameras Even without a telephoto option, the A71 easily takes some pretty nice shots.

Durability Plastic body scratches easily, no IP rating so don't get this wet; Charging No wireless charging support; Speaker I love having an analog headphone jack, but with a speaker this underwhelming, I hate how much you need it.

Samsung Galaxy A71 - Prism Crush Black SM-A715FZKDVNZ review

The second of Samsung’s two new Galaxy A series phones, the Samsung Galaxy A71 aims to offer to offer the desirable trinity of features for aspiring phone owners – a large and vibrant screen, a good camera and, as they are wont to put it, awesome battery life.
