I replaced a 4TB EVO with this QVO hoping to save money as an OS drive running via thunderbolt on a 2017 MacBook Pro, while the EVO has been rock solid, this 4TB QVO has frozen multiple times and that is in keeping with some early reviews.
Worked great as an upgrade for my laptop drive. I would recommend downloading the samsung data transfer software, it made the whole process so much simpler.
No problems exchanging a previously purchased external USB drive for the Samsung, ghost drive image of existing laptop drive to this one and for massive speed increase in both booting up and general use.
I bought two one for me and one for my brother. Both to speed up our aging laptops, And did it ever you bet. Its like a new Computer. Boots up so fast and programs load in a blink of an eye. Even internet seems faster., I cloned my old hard drive to the ssd with my usb sata cable.
I bought this to dual boot Linux on and it does a great job at that, it's not the fastest SSD but is still pretty quick. Would recommend for creators or as a gaming drive to have alongside a faster SSD to boot on. Samsung SSD's have a reputation in my mind as being very reliable and supported
This solid state drive is incredibly fast. I replaced a failing standard disk drive with this internal drive and my computer is much faster from startup to opening and transferring files. The 1TB storage was ample for both my operating system and data storage, with space to spare.
Design; Features; Performance; value
Every year, SSD technology gets better and better which is where Samsung's new and affordably priced 860 QVO (Quality and Value Optimized) comes into play which retails from $179AUD online for the 1TB model (reviewed) with a 2TB and 4TB also available.
At just $149 for 1TB, or 15 cents per gigabyte, the SSD 860 QVO is a steal even when measured against other budget SSDs like the Crucial MX500. By moving to four-bit memory cells without a sacrifice in performance, Samsung could very well be dealing a stunning blow not just to competing SSDs, but to...
Very affordable on a cost-per-gigabyte basis; Comes in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB capacities; Supports hardware encryption; Excellent reliability ratings
Relatively short warranty. SATA only; no PCI Express version
It's an awesome ssd with such an high speed of data transfer
