Samsung 850 EVO 120GB and 500GB RAID and RAPID Review - VNAND Goes TLC
The 2.5" SATA versions of the 850 EVO will be available 'later this month (December)', with M.2 and mSATA versions coming 'next year'. The 840 EVO was a great launch and sold very well, but Samsung did not rest on their laurels.
Samsung 850 EVO Review
When we sampled the previous generation 840 EVO from SAMSUNG we were very impressed. It was reasonably priced, had good encryption qualities and in stock format was also a very fast drive. Add RAPID technology and the drive became a performance beast.- + RAPID Technology
- + 3D V-NAND
- + 5 year warranty
- + 6.8mm Height
Samsung SSD 850 Evo 2TB
Today we have the latest model from the Samsung SSD 850 Evo on hand, the mouth-watering 2TB model. Previously the 850 Evo range extended to a 1TB model but for those that find that simply wasn't enough, Samsung has doubled the capacity and in the process created what is by far the largest capacity...
Samsung 850 Evo M.2 review: good things come in small packages
Today we're looking at the M.2 version of Samsung's popular 850 Evo SSD. We've already benchmarked the 2.5-inch 840 Evo and 850 Evo , so we're curious to see how this smaller form factor shapes up. Thanks to Samsung, we've got our hands on a unit to serve in our XSR test rig, so let's take a look!- Pretty fast
- Super tiny
- Not the fastest
- Limited to SATA speeds
Expensive as all get out but worth it if you need it.
HDDs are heavy and require a lot of room. I used to run two 2TB and one 4TB HDDs in my desktop machine for data drives and had a set of four more backup HDDs for each data drive in my computer: two in each set were kept onsite (aka home) and the other two in the set were kept offsite in my safe...- High capacity
- inceased speed
- lower weight
- smaller size
- lower power consumption
- runs cooler than HDDs
- dead quiet
- five year warranty
- Price is higher than a kite
Excellent SSD Drive
The 850 EVO has been tested for over 3 years of use with our desktops & laptops & we have yet to have one fail. (We have had other SSD brands fail, but not the 850 EVO) Great performance and reliability
Samsung 850 EVO review: 3D NAND and insane endurance for the masses
It's been only a few short months since Samsung's 850 Pro delivered the company's long-lasting 32-bit 3D NAND to the high-end/corporate market.- 3D NAND promise drive longevity
- Good performance for the price
- RAPID software creates a risk of data loss
Samsung 850 Evo SSD: Australian Review
Sometimes, even if you're only spending a small amount of money, it's worth shelling out that little bit more and getting yourself a superior piece of technology. That edict is very much true when it comes to getting a new solid state drive for your PC, actually.- Excellent performance
- Great warranty conditions
- Great bundled Magician software
- More expensive than competitors
- Competition also from cheaper high-end drives
- Magician only on Windows
Samsung 850 EVO 2TB review
SSDs continue to drop in price, to the point that there's little excuse not to have one in your PC or laptop, but storage capacity remains a concern. Most SATA SSDs top out at 1TB, so you'll almost definitely need to add a second traditional hard disk if you want to guarantee you won't run out of...
