Ryze Tello

The Ryze Tello isn't for serious video work or long-distance flight, but that's okay. There are plenty of capable, and more expensive, drones out there that scratch that itch, such as the DJI Mavic Air.

Inexpensive; Easy to fly; Programmable via Scratch; Bluetooth remote control compatibility; Automated flight modes

Pixelated, low-quality video; Limited control range; No GPS or return-to-home capability

Ryze Tech Tello Drone Review: Fun Goes Only So Far

The Ryze Tech Tello is a fun, simple drone to fly, but its programming feature is poorly executed, and its battery life is short.

Small; fast drone; Easy to control; Comfortable remote control

Scratch programming language is difficult to set up; Battery life is short

Tuff little toy that's FUN, FUN, FUN!!!

First off, be clear, the Tello is a TOY and should in no way be considered anything more. The Tello can be so much fun and is well suited for young children, seniors, experienced UAV pilots and anyone else who is even remotely interested in what the whole drone thing is about.

Great for the price

It's a fun little drone/quadcopter. The picture quality is great for social media, and the video quality is hit or miss depending on wifi signal strength. I would definitely recommend getting a simple $10 usb WiFi repeater dongle to help with boost signal, another accessory I would recommend is a...

Picture quality; battery life; dji and intel powered!

No remote; WiFi strength

Tough little drone with many great features.

Many great features on this drone. It is a good unit to learn on. It's ability to hover is a real plus. Short flying time of 12 minutes can be offset by buying relatively inexpensive batteries. Unit construction is of tough plastic. It can take a pretty good hit. Best not to fly in winds over 5 mph.

Probably best $100 Beginners Drone you can buy. Video needs

This could be classified as a toy drone, but it could also be classified very realistically as a "beginner's drone" too, since it handles SO similarly to a Spark or Mavic Pro. If you own a larger drone and one a little for-fun flyer, this will feel very at-home.

Cool little drone

I was a little surprised at the smaller size of the drone when it arrived but not alarmingly. It arrived quickly (within a week) and in good shape. while charging the battery (two hours) I, read over the materials that came with it, downloaded the iPhone app for controlling it and prepared for my...

Ryze Tello

The Tello is a small entry-level quadcopter made by Chinese startup Ryze Technology, in collaboration with drone king DJI. In conjunction with a smartphone or tablet running the Tello app, it can be flown for up to 13 minutes on a single battery charge, features a control range of up to 100m and...

Very affordable; Easy to fly; Compact and lightweight; Some interesting flight modes; Simple app

Choppy video; Doesn't fly well in wind

Ryze Tello

Even from our brief time with the Ryze Tello, we can tell its going to be one of the best drones of 2018 with a ton of smarts and surprisingly ample performance for its small size.

Incredibly affordable and fun; Phone-based POV mode; Motion-controlled flying still makes you feel like a Jedi

Light enough to be carried away by a breeze; Not designed to be flown outside
