As with previous Tycoon installments, kids can play any of several challenging scenarios. For example, they might be asked to build a park on difficult terrain or one designed to attract lots of guests.

Making a sequel to a hit game is tricky business. If you simply rehash the original, fans will complain that it's more of the same. But if you change too much, you risk losing what made the original special. The RollerCoaster Tycoon series stands as good evidence of these potential pitfalls.

Everyone, at one time or another, wants to be a tycoon at something, be it business or some other endeavor. The gaming industry has tapped into this desire with a virtual plethora of titles, from underwater to space, to trains and planes.

The "3" in the title of RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 (RCT3) signifies that it is the third game in the popular series, but it is even more appropriate as this game takes the series into the world of 3D graphics for the first time.

It's not often that a popular game can make the leap in to a fully 3D world - usually a vital aspect such as gameplay gets missed out, with the likes of Lemmings 3D being one candidate that we'd really rather forget.

When Rorschach reviewed RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 , he joked that he thought maybe somebody had slipped him RollerCoaster Tycoon instead, because the sequel looked and played so much like the original.

I once worked in an amusement park, in the gift shops at a Six Flags near my house. The pay was awful, but for the most part I liked my job. That was, until I made some comments in my online journal about the job.

Overall it's a good sequel that looks impressive. Veterans of the series will probably have been expecting more to have been changed though.
