Rime

In the last few months, the Nintendo Switch release schedule has been filled with ports and rereleases of Indie games that already exist on other platforms. The majority of these games have been ported fairly well – sure there were some issues here and there, but for the most part there's been...

Call off the search party – RiME review

Ever since I got a look at the game at PAX South earlier this year, I've been in awe of the vibrantly colorful visual style of RiME, the aesthetic of the world, and the ICO-esque look of the game's lead.

Incredible; emotional narrative; Delightful visual design

Nearly game-breaking framerate issues; Excessively scaled back graphics; Muted colors; Long load times; Not worth the higher price tag

RiME (Switch)

RiME is a beautiful adventure experience in colour, sound, and narrative, but is somewhat diminished on the Switch.

Rime (Nintendo Switch) Review

Tequila Works has just about squeezed this beautiful game from other home consoles into the smaller form of Nintendo's Switch. Despite the chronic performance issues that are found throughout in this iteration, it all just about holds together well enough, and, thankfully, the core adventure shines...

Review: RiME

I found myself taking a lot of screenshots as I progressed because there were so many beautiful vistas and images. RiME has had an interesting time (had to). Unveiled as a PS4 exclusive originally its art style and gameplay drew many comparisons to The Legend of Zelda , Ico and Shadow of the...

Fantastic storyline; Stimulating puzzles; Fantastic art style and music

Game Review: RiME

RiME didn't exactly have the smoothest of times from its initial announcement to its release. Surfacing as an intriguing adventure, catching the attention of many – myself included – to then disappearing for about two years, and reappearing under a new publisher; the game's rocky road will...

Beautiful world; Enjoyable exploration; Simple yet effective puzzling and platforming; Emotionally affecting story

Brilliance of the first area doesn't quite carry through the rest of the game; Plot could be hard to follow

Rime Switch review - There are problems here, but are they enough to put players off

For a game that leans so heavily on its visuals in order to tell its story, Rime for the Switch needed to be a real beauty. And when playing docked, Rime really does look the part, with the colours bursting from the screen. However, when playing in handheld mode, the visuals take a dive.

RiME (Nintendo Switch) Review

In our original review of RiME (which you can read below this one), we described it as a potential masterpiece. Unfortunately, for players picking it up on the Switch, it will be incredibly hard to see why. This is an incredibly shoddy port.

Fantastic visuals and music; Compelling platforming and puzzle gameplay; Immersive storytelling; Surprisingly emotive

Owes much to its influences; Never that challenging
