A perfect showcase for the power of indie developers; a deck building, roguelike, action RPG.

Phenomenal combination of genres; unlocking new cards is a blast

Some technical issues; trap sequences

Hand of Fate

Hand of Fate is a devastatingly addictive adventure game that mixes card collecting with fast-paced third-person action and board games. All though full of disparate ideas, the game is never confusing.

Paranoid, but not an android.

It begins with a plea for help, a closeup of a teenage girl's panicked face, clandestinely whispering about being "erased." Her name is Hope. You don't know why she's called you. You can't quite tell where she is. But you know she's frightened, and everything is horribly wrong.

Simple; intuitive and fun stealth gameplay; Great example of environmental storytelling; Compelling, engaging; well-plotted mystery; Excellent voice acting

Lacks in tension due to the inability to fail; Frequent hat tips to its Kickstarter roots kill immersion

Hand of Fate

A dark dealer at the end of a long path, a card game that could determine if your life is cut short...Hand of Fate is an interesting game, a combination of third-person action with card mechanics, feeling in the end like something that could actually be played on a tabletop.

Quest encounters keep deckbuilding fresh; genres blend surprisingly well together; unique, inventive gameplay

Some mild technical glitches like graphical slowdown; sometimes counter symbols in fights are hard to see; the game is comprised mostly of text

Strong story; Collectables add value; Excellent Voice acting

Disappointing last chapter; Occasional frame rate issues

Republique

Dystopias are by definition bleak, but they also function at least to the benefit of a few. The problem with Metamorphosis, the mysterious facility in which Republique takes place, is that players are rarely the beneficiaries.

Review: Republique (Sony Playstation 4)

Republique was one of those rare games that I was interested in playing despite knowing next to nothing about it; if I'm being up-front, I thought the title was interesting and the box art looked cool, and decided that was enough knowledge to inform my decision about whether or not I was going to...

"Republique is a decent game with a good premise and unique gameplay, but a disappointing ending. "
