Republique

Dystopias are by definition bleak, but they also function at least to the benefit of a few. The problem with Metamorphosis, the mysterious facility in which Republique takes place, is that players are rarely the beneficiaries.

Review: Republique (Sony Playstation 4)

Republique was one of those rare games that I was interested in playing despite knowing next to nothing about it; if I'm being up-front, I thought the title was interesting and the box art looked cool, and decided that was enough knowledge to inform my decision about whether or not I was going to...

Game Review: Republique

It's in this way that we are introduced to Hope, or 390-H as she's been branded by the authorities that be. We don't know much about Hope, other than that she is a member of this unusual community and referred to as a ‘Pre-Cal' – kept, essentially, as prisoners and brainwashed.

Decent stealth gameplay; Brillaint; gripping narrative; Fairly unique concept; Developer's passion shines

Some clunky movement; Camera automatically changing can be annoying; Framerate and loading issues

République

Dystopian society isn't a novel concept in games these days. There are a whole bunch of visions of futures gone wrong out there. It's a concept that can be a bit hit and miss, but when it works it can be something truly special.

Republique Review – Take a Trip Through This Dystopian Stealth Drama

Making the leap from mobile to platforms, Republique brings a fully crafted world along with some excellent gameplay mechanics to deliver a strong 8-10 hour performance. Originally conceived and funded on Kickstarter as an episodic mobile stealth game, the complete package is now available on PS4,...

Strong story; Collectables add value; Excellent Voice acting

Disappointing last chapter; Occasional frame rate issues

Hand of Fate

A dark dealer at the end of a long path, a card game that could determine if your life is cut short...Hand of Fate is an interesting game, a combination of third-person action with card mechanics, feeling in the end like something that could actually be played on a tabletop.

Quest encounters keep deckbuilding fresh; genres blend surprisingly well together; unique, inventive gameplay

Some mild technical glitches like graphical slowdown; sometimes counter symbols in fights are hard to see; the game is comprised mostly of text

Hand of Fate

Hand of Fate is a devastatingly addictive adventure game that mixes card collecting with fast-paced third-person action and board games. All though full of disparate ideas, the game is never confusing.

A perfect showcase for the power of indie developers; a deck building, roguelike, action RPG.

Phenomenal combination of genres; unlocking new cards is a blast

Some technical issues; trap sequences
