(Xbox One Review) The Final Station

The Final Station is a satisfyingly eerie journey following an ill-fated engineer and his train, the Belus-07. The train-maintenance sections aren't as strong as the creepier scavenging portions, but the story elements hinted at and revealed throughout keep them engaging until the end.

"Too buggy."

The game is fun and excuting. But too many bugs, insanely long loading times, and bad level design all make reCore more like a chore than a game. Too bad.

Bad robot.

ReCore feels like a game grappling with insecurity over its length. Clocking in at around eight hours, it's a modest action game in which players, along with robotic companions called CoreBots, explore dungeons to find power-ups and progress through the story.

Shooting feels fast; frenetic; and satisfying; CoreBots are charming characters; Lots of small touches of environmental storytelling

Crashes and UI bugs; Long loading times; Fetch quest detracts from the whole experience

ReCore Review

There's something to be said for taking your influences seriously. If you're going to honour a thing that already exists, pay homage to it or, as is sometimes the case, straight-up borrow from it

Large world with lots to do; Metroidvania mechanic is well implemented; Often looks lovely

Combat can feel repetitive; Riddled with technical issues; Not all that deep

ReCore Review

I didn't expect to be quite as big as it is, and from the looks of things, it's possible its developers didn't either. Its world, while interesting to explore for a good while, is ultimately too big with too little happening in it to be a totally serviceable housing for the strong combat and...

Recore

What happens when key talents behind the Metroid Prime series, the creator of Mega Man, and the writer and director of Halo and Destiny cinematics all join forces to start a massive game project? The answer: you get Recore .

ReCore Review – A Mix Of Nostalgia

Expectations are a funny thing. As an example, if you told me that the minds who brought us Megaman, Onimusha and Dead Rising was working with the some of the key talent behind Metroid Prime on a new game, I'd be pretty excited and ReCore is that game. ReCore takes place sometime in the future.

ReCore Review

Of all of the Xbox One exclusives to release in 2016, one of the larger titles to not receive much fanfare or really hype from gamers has been ReCore . The game always looked great at presentations, but it was always overshadowed by Gears of War 4 , Crackdown 2 , other Microsoft franchises, and of...

Good story; Plenty of exploration; Forgiving platforming

Technical glitches; Doesn't look like a current-gen game; Too many ideas shoehorned in with poor execution; Tags

ReCore review

ReCore is a Jekyll and Hyde kind of game. For everything it does well, there’s a shortcoming that should have been eradicated before it came your way. With some extra thought and polish, it’s got ‘cult classic’ written all over it. Unfortunately, that’s not how things turned out. Nor are we desperate to find out what might be if its developers are given a crack at ReCore 2. Nope, this one seems better off left to history and the curious. An occasionally glorious failure.

Robot chums are great fun; Innovative side-dungeons ; Intriguing premise;

Combat difficulty spikes; Heard it before story; Multiple bugs;
