Expectations are a funny thing. As an example, if you told me that the minds who brought us Megaman, Onimusha and Dead Rising was working with the some of the key talent behind Metroid Prime on a new game, I'd be pretty excited and ReCore is that game. ReCore takes place sometime in the future.

Every now and again, there comes a game with such incredible potential to be something truly extraordinary. ReCore is one such game, but unfortunately its potential is squandered by its implementation, bugs and most of all insecurity about itself.

Horrific Loading screens | Poorly executed metroidvania system | Boring backtracking | Did I mention the loading times

It's a very old-school, fun, but unpolished game. It would have benefited from more time in the oven. It feels like a budget game, and I'm sad that this type of game doesn't get the love and attention it used to in this industry filled with polished, but increasingly boring and homogeneous games.

Has some high points, but soon gave way to glaring faults. Not the worst game, but is difficult to recommend.

The Final Station is a satisfyingly eerie journey following an ill-fated engineer and his train, the Belus-07. The train-maintenance sections aren't as strong as the creepier scavenging portions, but the story elements hinted at and revealed throughout keep them engaging until the end.

Microsoft's latest "Windows 10 and Xbox One" exclusive, ReCore , is a title that not only showed promise, but one that had gamers salivating when it first appeared at E3 2015. The final product is anything but a steaming pile of garbage.

Bought this game for my grandsons and they love it. Took them a little time to figure out how to play it but they got it.

Good idea but badly executed. It's OK if you are only in it for the battling, but if you are looking for something with a strong narrative and like to have combat integrated into that in a meaningful way than look elsewhere.
