Razer Chimaera 5.1 Wireless Gaming Headset Review
When Razer announced the new Chimaera gaming headset for XBOX 360 we learned that it would be released in two flavours, stereo and full 5.1 surround sound. Then in March we were lucky enough to test the stereo version of the Chimaera and we were thoroughly impressed.

Razer Chimaera 5.1 Review Michael Aulia So we've got all these wireless Bluetooth headsets to chat over the phone or listen to our music to. We've also got the wireless portable speakers on our desks that sound so wonderful that you just want to listen to them every day and night.
Pros:
- + Great looking
- add aesthetics to the room
- + Wireless
- + 5.1 Dolby Surround Sound
- + Lightweight for its size
- + Rechargeable
- + AAA rechargeable batteries for endless gaming sessions
- + Can be used as a universal AAA batteries charger
- + For both Xbox 360 and PC
- + Easy to set-up
- + Good sound
Cons:
- The headset itself is pretty large like the packaging box but amazingly, it feels light and I never felt tired even if I wore it for hours of non-stop gaming
- The overall look of the headset and the charging base station is really nice and elegant.

Razer Chimaera 5.1 headset review: aural pleasures
The Razer Chimaera 5.1 gaming headphones are pure auditory nirvana. I'm rarely blown away by sound, as the 2.1 stereo mix of my 40″ flat screen is passable at best. So nothing could prepare me for the deep, rich 5.1 sound coming from the Razer wireless headset.

lasted a long time, good quality, but are outdated as of today
Good headphones, I dont have them any more because they finally retired. I am in the market for new headphones but I want a wireless 7.1 device capable of both Bluetooth and auxillary, or wireless USB. I will see if RAZOR makes some.

Absolutely perfect.
So I previously used Turtle Beaches X11's, which were pretty good. There was a distinct noise when a film went silent etc and the cable knotted CONSTANTLY but aside from that they served me well. Unfortunately they broke through wear and tear and as such I was after a replacement.

Good overall headset. I would recommend getting your own SPDIF, RCA and 2.5/3/5mm cables if you do purchase this headset. Cables bundles are short and are not shielded well. Feedback is a certainty picking up humming either from your PSU or other moving parts on your PC/X360.
Pros:
- Nice carbon fibre aesthetic
- great range
- multi use between PC/X360
Cons:
- Base station is large
- cables bundled rather short
- difficult to run SPDIF and voice chat on PC
- inconsistent holding of charge from battery
