If you’re choosing a new keyboard as a gamer, it can be very tempting to go for the smallest keyboard out there. But today Razer is introducing the BlackWidow V3 Mini Hyperspeed, and having had just over a week with a sample, I can say with certainty that this might be my favorite small gaming keyboard to date. Today we’re going to be looking at one of the hottest mechanical gaming keyboards: Razer’s new Blackwidow Chroma. The keyboard features fully customisable RGB backlighting, as well as Razer’s custom Kailh mechanical switches and a host of extra features.

The Razer BlackWidow Chroma (Origin PC Edition) is the most tricked-out keyboard in Razer's lineup, with a full numpad, macro keys and extensive lighting and software options. The company's own Green switches are on board, but the stabilizers flanking the larger keys can be problematic.

After seeing the announcement for Razer’s Chroma line of peripherals, I was very interested in getting my hands on some of them to evaluate. Razer’s new lighting system allows for a possible 16.8 million color combinations and is capable of some really pretty animations.

The first time I took a look at the 2014 Blackwidow Ultimate I was happy with the board so it’s not really a shock that I would like what they did with the Chroma. Just like the original, the Chroma isn’t perfect.

Razer is refining its compact-keyboard game. In 2020, the Huntsman Mini was one of the first 60 percent keyboards from a major maker of gaming peripherals, predating the surge of compact designs launching in 2021.
