Raspberry Pi 3 Benchmarks vs. Eight Other ARM Linux Boards

On Friday my Raspberry Pi 3 arrived for benchmarking. For our first benchmarks of this Cortex-A53 64-bit ARM $35 development board is a comparison against eight other ARMv7 and ARMv8 development boards running their official Linux distributions while carrying out a range of benchmarks.

There are several key things that have helped make the Raspberry Pi such a success. They include its feature set (like the GPIO pins), its ease of access, and its price. And it seems that this last point is a core value for the Raspberry Pi foundation.

This kit is perfect if you want to start playing with a Raspberry PI. It's easy to setup and it runs fine. The keyboard might feels weird but that's just my opinion. Use your own keyboard for comfort.

- Performance; no defect and easy setup

Great update to an established platform

Raspberry Pi is a excellent micro-computer platform for a wide range of DIY projects. It's a great learning environment for kids and adults alike who want to learn electronics and programming.

Same form-factor as previous Raspberry Pi B+ versions; WiFi now native to the board; Upgraded CPU and memory

Older Wheezy images will not work on this; So you can't just pull the SD card off an older model and stick it into this one; This means that you will need to burn a new Jessie or Jessie Lite SD card and reinstall everything if you want to upgrade the hardware for an older project.

Awesome How Many Things This Device Can Do

Overview: I purchased this with the intent to build a RetroPie Arcade setup. I was pleased to see that it can do so much more than that, but stuck to my arcade idea. This device is so versatile and I now have an arcade box which can play games from almost every platform from the beginning of...

Raspberry Pi 3

The Raspberry Pi 3 is the latest version of the circuit-board computer that caused such a fuss in 2012. This is the most powerful version of the Pi, making the £4.25 Pi Zero look like, well, it's worth about four quid.

Great value; Significant performance increase; Great free online learning resources; Built-in wireless connections

No Android support yet

Raspberry Pi 3 Model B review

The latest version of the compact computer adds more power and built-in wireless connectivity

Integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth saves hassle and USB ports; Upgraded processor means smoother desktop performance; Cheap

Slightly more power hungry than older Pis

Raspberry Pi 3 review

Has it really been four years since the Raspberry Pi blasted onto the single-board computer scene? Well, it has and to celebrate the Raspberry Pi Foundation has released its latest version, Raspberry Pi 3, which is more of an evolution than a revolution.

Raspberry Pi 3 review

There are a lot of circuit board computers around these days. Some are only really meant for IoT devs. Others are Raspberry Pi copies, to put it bluntly. No other circuit board computer touches what the Pi offers as a package.

Great value; Big performance upgrade; Wi-fi is an excellent addition

Not 4K; Plenty of cheap media player rivals
