Not all Wasteland inhabitants are friendly, however. Packs of bandits have taken up residence in their own little communities, and each group has its own look, combat tactics, and interior decorations.

Rage is one of the best games of 2011 so far, yet it doesn't bring any massive changes to an extremely crowded market. But there is no question that id Software's masterpiece will make the short list for that coveted title of games you must own in 2011, especially if you like first-person shooters,...

Let me be clear here: RAGE is by no means a bad game. It simply lacks the pedigree of classic id Software shooters, and though I absolutely loved the shooting and the light exploration, I needed more to really sell the world itself.

You won't like me when I'm angry…and when I've got a tri-bladed boomerang Y'know what, we seriously needed a game like Rage . Thanks to pessimistic titles as Fallout 3 , the stark reality of a world hit by cataclysmic disaster isn't one with any hope.

Rage has given us one of our most enjoyable singleplayer experiences of the year, and we said as much in our in-depth review last week. This week, however, we're focusing on multiplayer and trying to decide if Rage is as much fun with company as it is alone.

Rage is an interesting amalgamation. On one hand, it is a technically beautiful game with tight controls, fun gameplay and a polish other games would envy. On the other, it trades game time for reused dungeons and story.

Coming from iD Software – the creators of the FPS genre as we know it – comes their latest release – RAGE – a game with 20 years of shooting pedigree and some of the most well known figures in the industry working away on it's innards. No pressure then.

So I've finally finished playing all the DLCs for Fallout: New Vegas, and was happy with the storyline presented there. But now my need for a post-apocalyptic game comes to the forefront. So it was with surprise that Rage, another title published by Bethesda, landed on my desk.
