Prey (2017) Review

[As Originally Written on SNo2 .] Arkane recently released their 1.02 Patch for Prey and with that decisive patch I've deemed it appropriate to finally present my review of the game in earnest.

Prey is a surprisingly long game, complimented by an incredibly well-designed environment in Talos 1. There's a real tension that never quite lets up, especially knowing that any enemy can kill you quickly if you're not careful.

Prey Review

Prey's curious alternate-history universe, intriguing sidequests, hidden threats, and detailed environmental storytelling make Talos I a joy to explore. The unsettling sense of paranoia that comes from knowing any object could turn out to be a hidden enemy gives even the quiet moments a palpable...

(PlayStation 4 Review) Prey

While there's certainly a temptation among fans of Arkane's previous work to simply label Prey as " Dishonored in space," that label would do a disservice to the developer's significant efforts to bring a similar approach into the more ambitious and complex environment of Talos I.

A shoot and a miss.

NBA Playgrounds attempts to fill the void left by beloved series like NBA Jam and NBA Street. And while it can be a fun, flashy arcade game, it quickly succumbs to its own repetitive gameplay and presentation--with frustrating results.

Entertaining aesthetic packed with personality; Satisfying challenge; Online games reveal Playgrounds' comedic potential

Only one game mode at launch; Repetitive music and announcing; No real need to use the game's extensive roster

Prey

The elephant in the room deserves acknowledging upfront: Prey doesn't have a single blessed thing to do with Human Head Studios's 2006 shooter of the same name. That was a mechanically shaggy game that still found a devoted cult following by defiantly flying in the face of just about every...

Prey (PlayStation 4) Review

Despite its issues, which should be addressed in short order, Prey is a stunning gem. Not since the venerable System Shock 2 has there been an immersive simulator that succeeds in everything it sets out to do. Talos-1 is masterful in both its construction and design.

Prey Review – PS4

If you could say anything of Arkane Studios in recent years then it would be that it really knows how to master a sense of place, a familiarity within an alien environment, scenery that tells as much of a story as a hundred audio logs could possibly hope to achieve.

Prey is a franchise I come to fresh, having never played the first one, so I read up and spoke to friends to find out more about it. Bethesda bought the franchise and have changed it considerably, by more understanding the only similarities between this game and the original is that it is about some...
